Has there been any update on her medical condition?

Hopefully she'll be healthy enough soon to give her account of events.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,544 ✭✭✭RoTelly

Yeah! according to one person on X he spoke with her after Xmas and she is in recovery. But he also feels for some reason that her going to the Oireachtas wouldn't have helped.

Dee has lots of friends IMO. Clearly liked and they won't have a bad word said against here, I think they are blind, but perhaps they know something we don't… but you think they'd let us know why she was scapegoated!

    ______

In the end they were just greedy, they all knew one another and knew what to expect more money for no return, it was a secure cash flow, but in fairness they looked for what they wanted and fair dues to them for that, and wouldn't you be doing the same!

Just one more thing .... when did they return that car

If this is RTÉ then they really are showing how up their own holes they are: -

    https://www.independent.ie/business/journalist-who-brought-case-to-wrc-has-a-huge-sense-of-self-importance/a1955549766.html

The journalist made “repeated references” to the names of people… the WRC officer noted, some in very senior roles, but did not … job titles. “This was despite my repeated requests for him to refer to these individuals by their job titles rather than by their names, as I had no knowledge of who they were, which he apparently found very difficult to believe,” said the adjudication officer, Breiffni O'Neill.

    Salary of €84,630

Ed Mulhall provide the verbal agreement for extra money if it is RTÉ, 2009

Special Responsibility Allowance, and an Additional Responsibility Allowance is being made pensionable - valued at €100,000

paid an Additional Responsibility Allowance for duties as Acting Chief Sub Editor since 2007

FoI would clearly show its RTÉ, but I think all of this sounds like RTÉ.

    Meanwhile …

Pat Kenny rules out retirement as he addresses future on Newstalk after 11 years

    https://www.irishmirror.ie/news/irish-news/pat-kenny-slams-anti-competitive-34599872

When quizzed on any future projects, he replied: “I always have my eyes open, but there is nothing bubbling on TV at the moment.”

But he ruled out an immediate return to television, saying: "Not at the moment. I have been so busy, I haven't a moment but I'd love to do one or two things but there is nothing bubbling at the moment. I never say never to anything. If the right thing comes along, I'll do it."

People seem to forget that Pat Tanked on TV after TLLS

The Frontline - never made any head way as a replacement for q&a

Prime Time - he said himself it he didn't really have to do much on that show

In the Round - UTV Ireland's chat show, relacing Doc Martin's 100k audience reduced to less than 50K after the first episode

Tonight with Pat Kenny - TV3 bizzare decision to name a new show Tonight when they already had one

The Big Debate with Pat Kenny - VMTV which basically took over from the Election Debates in the hope that that audience might transfer

He hasn't been on TV for 5 years, no one has noticed.

3 Months of restricted data from Kevin's side gig register has been released:

Less than 1% of the activities were in the highest category, the €10,000 plus payment band.

This is not a band, with this information I could fix the headline

RTÉ approved 2 external activities worth €1m

    Fully agree Rotelly

Public money that every taxpayer in Ireland payes needs to be up to the fullest level of scrutiny

Gifting a person literally lottering winning sums of money of 450, 000 Euros as a "redundancy package" when the role was not made redundant is criminal

The government not using their power to pursue this public grievance shows what they are about ,not the public

The head of strategy at RTE that lost RTE/taxpayers 2.2 million for the late late show musical debacle and resigned and got an exit package of 200,000 euros . An utter disgrace

But You Can be sure if your Rte fee isn't paid you'll get a court summons in your door

As the Taxpayer is funding RTE I would hope that the Govt. ensures the legislation is passed for full disclosure of these extra mural activities.

And soon, before its swallowed up in a haze of smoke and waffle from Montrosia.

Anything else is a waste of time.

If he doesn't want to I don't really see why he should retire … though his inflated ego might need a rest.

Bizarrely Kathryn Thomas has said she had a chat with Kevin Before about joining Q102, not sure why he'd care or why he'd meet with her TBH.

On the other hand according to Pat when he was their top paid Current Affairs presenter he didn't ever meet much with Kevin Before, only a lunch at one point.

Surely Dee Forbes must be considered the greatest Hide n' Seeker of all time?

I mean, you think it would be easy to spot those ludicrous 'look at me' glasses she adores but nope, not a chance of her being found.

Deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee, come out come out wherever you are!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I believe that she is recovering from her illness, again I am not sure what the illness is, some say it was pretty bad other say it was due to the stress cause by her actions in RTÉ.

I also believe that as next year is the 100th Anniversary of RTÉ all of the former living DGs and Chairs of the RTÉ will be out in force and that Dee and Co. will believe that all is good.

My issue at the moment re: Redundancies are the number of RTÉ people that exited the company in 2024, I think that some previously signed off on redundancies on where push through in 2024. I could be wrong but that is how it seems.

I also think that if 40 people are being made redundant under the new scheme what are the doing in the meantime in their current roles if they are unnecessary.

I think over all the strategy is vague and doesn't improve the service that we currently have and that the depts should have said to RTÉ that they need to be more focused.

But it is up to the Ministers at the end of the day, but this frustration in RTÉ about the Ministers not signing off on the redundancy package should be thrown back in RTÉ's face IMO.

Others might have a better view of these redundancies, than I.

If someone on the wedge that the Dufficer has been getting for the length of time of any contract has any money or 'pension' issues one can only conclude its their own fault.

I wouldn't be losing any sleep about the high rollers of RTE on that issue, Payther.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,153 ✭✭✭✭Brendan Bendar

Ill have to admire Dobson I must say, he was one of the big names in RTE who, as far as I know, didn't have his finger in any pies and couldn't be 'aligned' with any extras mural activities using his RTE exposure.

Was not into hawking himself to the highest bidder unlike many of his colleagues.

    Had a bit of class.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,692 ✭✭✭Peter Dragon

i can assure you no sleep will be lost over that man or any of his contracting colleagues!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,692 ✭✭✭Peter Dragon

Indeed. The amount of shilling that some RTÉ staff but particularly contractors have engaged in historically is stomach churning.

I got the impression things like that would be beneath him. I couldn’t for example imagine him doing a puff piece in RSVP from his home pictured sitting by the fire on a Le Corbusier Chaise Longue - available from Arnotts Furniture Department; extolling the virtues of WillowWarm Briquettes while sipping a nice Bonpas Chateauneuf-du-Pape - available from O’Brien’s Fine Wines at just €34.99 on offer until the 21st of this month.

Well Angela Kerins has come out of hiding after 11 years and is, predictably, looking for taxpayer compo.

    So give Dee time…

Dee should probably have gone in front of the Committee in hindsight seeing as there’s a pay off to be had if the questions are too hard….

I wonder will any of the more recent attendees at such committee hearing decide they need to be compensated too? I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

Says himself that RTE don't know who listens to what. But they can count the number of times a stream starts on the player. Pity they don't count the number of restarts of the same stream due to issues and use this ability to not replay all the adverts again, and again, and again.
