The Flo 'deals' are the only fixed term I've seen in the domestic market that don't have the 'standard' 12/24 months from sign-up contract time frame. Personally I was on a 13.5 month contract and I see others here are on less than 12 months.

Hopefully they'll offer something decent before March 31st, otherwise Tuesday April 1st might set a record for the amount of switches in 1 day!

The below is a general 'signature' and not part of any post:

FYI, if you move to a 'smart' meter electricity plan, you CAN'T move back to a non-smart plan.

You don't have to take a 'smart' meter if you don't want one, opt-out is available.

Buy drinks in 3L or bigger plastic bottles or glass bottles or cartons to avoid the DRS fee.

Public transport user? If you're sick of phantom ghost services on the 'official' RTI sources, check bustimes.org for actual 'real' RTI, if it's on their map it actually exists.

the bwg deal was negotiated between the company and flo gas on tbe basis of a certain number of sign ups and even though they pushed it out to all the employees expecting it to hit the target in March they didn’t get the numbers so it was extended but the termination date didn’t change, the deal was intended to be reviewed depending on sign ups so they could negotiate again

If I hear anything from the bwg head office I will share it here

No doubt other providers are watching, there will be a deal worth holding out for advertised last week in March I'd say…my renewal variable price is the very same as I am paying now on the BWG dual offer 21.5 & 7.45 ex vat so no need to panic just yet.

I haven't actually spoke to anybody in FloGas, but is that gas price not only for new customers? The renewal rate on the site is much higher.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 518 ✭✭✭The lips

Flogas sent emails to most that are on the BWG deal to expect a new offer. Then a letter was posted to the house to explain the variable rate the customer would exit the BWG deal onto, the variable rate is the same as the BWG deal.

This variable rate is a stop gap while they negotiate a new offer no doubt.

I would expect suppliers legally have to give notice of any rate or tarrif changes, that is what the letter is about.

Yes they mention it in the email the letter was to to cover their regulatory compliance

Another thing to note VAT is going back to 13.5% April 1st out UK neighbours have a 5% VAT rate on Electricity 😳

The letter is a legal requirement from all supplier now

my letter doesn’t mention a variable rate but says I will be on the standard rate which is not good

Day goes from 0.2402 to 0.3753

Peak goes from 0.2841 to 0.4440

Night goes from 0.1872 to 0.2926

Eab goes from €1222 to €1753

The two 24hr plans you mention aren't available on an activated smart meter.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,119 ✭✭✭xboxdad

They did not include the details of the variable/new plan in the letter sent to me.

They only included the details of my current plan that's ending - citing the regulatory reason.

Are you sure you aren't confusing the two? It'd be weird if they sent a different letter to different customers.

no thats not true ppl will move onto standard tariffs

Anyone concerned rates might increase over the next few weeks/months with the cost of repairs after Eowyn?

Also in the BWG deal ending end of March boat. Need to lock in something decent after it considering there will be no further energy credits next year.

The rate I have down is wrong sorry but it is available but the EI rate is 23.82 not 22.618 and it's with a €50 cashback.

I'm out of contract now so need to decide what to do or hold off a few weeks for the BWG deal maybe.

I checked with switcher and my best option is yuno but even the name scare me lol

It’s giving me a yearly bill of €790 and €350 cashback

They will likely take 3k from the bank first 🤣

The EI fixed deal for new customers with 22.6c and 250 SC is the best I can find out there for a 24hr plan.

I would think there is more likely to be an increase in the Standing Charge rather than rates. A fixed cost per household makes sense. However, I expect the government may step in and fund a lot of the repairs.

Its likely rates will increase this year due to the fear around gas supplies. That's just my opinion tho. The fixed EI rate seems a smart move for those nearing the end of their contracts imo.

Well guys this is all over my head and out the gap.
Got my letter from FloGas to say my contract is up in March like others have here.
Is the Home electric + saver 30 the best 24hr plan currently?

The thing is I am considering an EV this year ( August ) so should I take that into my choice?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,119 ✭✭✭xboxdad

Our usage is 60% at night with a BEV, so yes, you'd want to be on a day/night plan or smart plan depending on what meter you have and what your usage patterns are.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,984 ✭✭✭bren2001

    Use bonkers.

The thing is I am considering an EV this year ( August ) so should I take that into my choice?

Make your decision in August IF you buy an EV. The breakfee is typically €50.

I dont see the sense is selecting an unoptimal rate today, paying the higher costs for April-August (4-5 months) on the possibility you will buy an EV. You're likely to spend more than €50 more this route.

I would ensure that you have a smart meter installed and you've registered with the ESB so you've access to the data. You can then select the best plan possible if you buy an EV.

    That would be my take.
