The problem with 90s was that when the ball was quickly available players would take the complete piss. But 60s goes very quickly if there is any kind of hubbub after the scoring.

I'm not entirely sure what the answer is. Perhaps a 30s shotclock but one that the ref initiates on his own judgement.

Maybe start the clock when the tee comes out.

Kicking side send tee out, once a careful examination of said tee has been completed by a panel of tee experts.

    Yeah, that'll speed things up.

    Or better still,

The kicking tee, carefully selected from a short list of seemingly identical tees, would be brought to the kicker by a eminent former player, at least 80 years old, who is ferried to the kicking location by electric car. Once on the pitch, the great tee ambassador would greet and shake hands with both teams and officials and a specially composed 'anthem to the kick' would be played, respectfully observed by all those in attendance. The tee ambassador would then exit the pitch on his chariot, waving to an appreciative crowd.

At the weekend after, biernes try's in 2nd half itoje picked up the ball and walks off with it and crowley had to get a ball from a ball boy.. slowed him down by a few seconds.

I'd imagine same team. Crowley finishing as he did is great. Sam would need to slip a notch for the starting order to be reversed post Scotland IMO.

Every team is capable of a bit of shithousery but the Scots are capable of taking it to another level. The coaches still talk about the Bus being delayed on the way to Murrayfield a good few years ago, fingers were pointed in a certain direction but it was never proven. It's embarrassing for the Scots at this stage

2017 was the bus incident. The only time they beat us since 2010 in the 6N. Before 2010 they beat us in the 6N in autumn 2001, the Foot n Mouth year. Shane Horgan in the centre.

We beat the Scots in Lansdowne in 2000 for the first time since 1988, Easterby, Horgan, Hayes, Stringer, ROG new caps, Kieron Dawson returned.

In 2003 we beat the Scots in Murrayfield for the first time since 1985. We drew with the Scots in Lansdowne in 1994.

They are dying to beat us more than any team in the competition, but hopefully, hopefully they're not good enough.

    Hope we're 💯 focused.

To be fair, I thought it was more embarrassing that we blamed a delayed a bus on losing.

Their shithousery looks a bit ridiculous when they lose however.

    it wasn’t embarrassing.

Joe Schmidt used it as a metaphor.
"We arrived at the stadium about 10 or 15 minutes late and we were late for most things in the first half," Schmidt told RTE.

"We were really well off our game and the Scottish attack really took advantage of that and they have some pretty sharp players, especially when they gave it some width.

"We were very, very passive, we were very slow to get ourselves set. It was incredibly disappointing because it is something we worked very hard on. It will be a tough reflection on Monday. We are not out of it yet, we did get a point out of the game with the bonus point system, at least we got that.

"We missed our timing. We haven't played for a long time and there was a few changes since the last time we played. You are always trying to bed things in as best you can in training but until you actually get into the playing arena, with that pressure that comes with it, it does make it very difficult.”

Now he could have thrown players “under the bus” but of course Joe is too much of a gentleman for that.

No. Instead the Irish and in particular the British media jumped all over it and contorted that comment.

It was embarrassing to lose to the Scottish.

Now I could name names. VERY tempting, but just look at the Irish team sheet that day (incl replacements) and it shouldn’t take a genius to figure out why Ireland were powder puff in defence (and lacking in certain other characteristics) that day.

I’ will tell you who wasn’t playing that day. POM and Sexton.

It’s embarrassing that to this day people are still swung by the media narrative.

Are you talking about Cathal Forde rather than Gavin?
Forde has been excellent at 12 alright. It'll be interesting to see where they put him when Gavin starts getting senior caps.

Was at that delayed Foot & Mouth game in Murrayfield. Only time I've been there….great day out but shocking match!

Gavin has played a total of 60 minutes of pro rugby, all off the bench. It's a bit premature to say where his best position is.

I can't see us being anything less than fully focussed.

Sheehan was on the wireless this morning and he emphasised the slow start v England was a work-on and not acceptable to repeat.

Scotland will do their usual and come with full energy but fade off after 30 mins and concede a hat full of penalties, a bit like England. If we can maintain a good lineout and field position that takes advantage of their flakiness, I don't see us having a problem scoring tries.

Sounds as if Prendergast will retain the 10 shirt, help him build confidence and experience. You'd imagine Sheehan will start, as one of the best players in the World at any position right now.

I'd guess Sheehan will start but James Tracy was raving about Kelleher's performance as well, not as explosive as Sheehan but to the expert eye had a very strong game.

Without question he did. Just pity for him that he's up against the best man on the planet in his spot.

Happy it’s coming from IRFU and not Thornley which is a bit annoying

Team are travelling at lunchtime tomorrow I think

Listening to Thornley discussing the Scrum Half position for Ireland acknowledging it’s about to go through a major transition ( JGP / Murray ) within 3 years if not before . So he name checks Doak, Gunne & Foley. But then goes large on Devine ahead of Murphy ‘best prospect since Murray in Ireland’. Is this provincial bias or what’s going on? Doak is the oldest and looks out of position with his frame. Murphy to me looks next but was passed as a future prospect in favour of Gunne who is youngest but a clear talent. And yet Devine keeps getting this rhetoric even though he seems behind both. He was a hero in Connaught before Ben Murphy moved but Murphy deserves the elevation. Interesting discussion but I feel the provincial bias we have suffered on 10 will inevitably move to 9 which is exhausting to contemplate. Thankfully we can enjoy JGP & Casey for another couple of years before that madness hits us

Leinster tend to get these key decisions right so my bet is also on Gunne . Murphy behind, and Devine let’s see how it works out behind Murphy in Connaught . Casey setting the tone after JGP for the time being

no changes, says Gerry. Surprised that Sheehan isn’t coming back in (if true) but then the lineout was perfect with Kelleher

Leinster absolutely do not tend to get scrum half decisions right.

Osborne is being hard done by I think. Needs to be in the 23 somewhere.

Other than that, I've no real.issies with selection. It went well against England so it make sense to not tinker.

Sorry, yeah Forde I was thinking about. I think Forde has a big future ahead of him.
