Would it be wrong to assume at this stage if we haven’t heard about failing any part in vetting that we have passed? I do remember a few people on this getting rejected due to something that came up in the vetting process. So if we haven’t heard does that mean it’s passed but waiting until offers are going out to confirm if we have passed?

This is what i am hoping lol, fingers crossed there is an April intake and some of us get an offer 😁 awaiting psni figures to update. Offers went out the day after it was updated in January. Not be many left in the new update when it comes through

No you get an email to say vetting has been completed. I did anyway.

The only thing I've noticed is that they are clearing groups on the day the offers are being made. I think that's what magic highlighter might be referring to. Can't all clear on the one morning, good chance a number may be cleared but emails won't be received until offers are ready to be made.

The yellows started in January and then the greens start soon. There is probably only 130/40 of yous left now. If it’s any consolation, the Chief Constable wants the first intake of the 2025 campaign to be in June so it would be a priority to get yous in before.

June? Lol there's no way of meeting that timeline I wouldn't have thought. I get that they are going to fast track a few lucky ones but to get them through the whole process in 4 months seems unrealistic. I would have through September as stated previously would be doable at a push. Be interesting to see what happens though over next few weeks

I know, it is definitely tight, and the first stages are done at Deloittes discretion but you never know. The thing that holds the whole process up is vetting. I can see all the other stages being done no problem by May/June for a group of people. I remember your campaign had a massive gap between getting merit number and doing PCA which can’t happen if June is the goal.

Hopefully it’s all hands on deck. There is people who want to be in, and there is a high demand for officers.

I've heard this preparation in place for increasing intakes which realistically they need to do if they are to increase numbers. The last psni strength figures had the total number below 6300which is down from the last update in December. My vetting nearly 7 months on now so hoping it's not much longer so I can get myself organised

The college has 6 squads and the course is designed to hold 50 per squad. So in hindsight, there should be 300 student officers in GV within 6ish months of the first squad going in. Be pretty cool if that could happen. Squads only have 34 or there about in them at the minute.

No news yet if they are gonna do intakes in april/may/June as yet. Hopefully they do but maybe be delayed until summer or later

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 112 ✭✭NeeNaw25

Why would there be a delay? There is no indication that there will be. The only reason there isn’t confirmation of courses beyond March is that it’s the start of a new financial year in April.

There was talk in their last meeting not going ahead with planned July and August courses due to insufficient numbers which I am hoping is because they are going to continue courses in apr/may/June as that would make sense. believe it or not, people are turning down roles even at this stage which is crazy with all the effort to get this far

Psni strength figures out and numbers are down again this month, not by much but consistently dropping even with the monthly intakes of students. 6278 is the current number. Can see why jon boucher is wanting to get 2025 recruitment drive up to speed very quickly

no I’ve deferred until later this year but will

does anyone know the shifts patterns? Iv read 4 days on 4 days off. Can anyone confirm this?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 91 ✭✭georgie1305

I wish it was 4 on 4 off, but unfortunately not.

They've began to implement 6 on 4 off in most areas I believe. Might be wrong.

last time I spoke to a serving officer it was 4 on 4 off and this was only a handful of months ago

any updates on the numbers with intakes etc?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 473 ✭✭Si_zx10r

Numbers updated on psni website, could be more calls going out tomorrow. 154 remaining in process. Looks like only 26 people starting in March course

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51 ✭✭MagicHighlighter

26…..surely not 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ can easily get the class numbers up as we’re all desperate to get in at this stage!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 473 ✭✭Si_zx10r

Yup, 289 as of 7/1/25 and 315 as of the 07/02/25. Tomorrow is 5 weeks since last calls so fingers crossed some of us will be getting calls tomorrow. Last month numbers were updated and then emails and calls the following day

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 473 ✭✭Si_zx10r

There was also 20 more people who have left the process so offers may have been made and declined reducing the number going in come march

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 473 ✭✭Si_zx10r

    Anybody hear anything today?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13 louarc123

no I don’t think they have agreed a budget for the new financial year yet so I think this is stopping them

It's a nightmare, I thought we would have been OK as the numbers are dropping monthly, numbers recently sitting at 6278 even with the intakes. With every officer that leaves that frees up alot of money I would have thought.
