Sounds like it has no memory of what has gone before and is starting to learn again from scratch. I'd say it will adjust itself

Yes agreed, battery has some sort of reset. This may have been due to when upgrading ICCU. It more than likely will drop over next few charges as still cold weather. Thanks

Well definitely a reset after the software upgrade.

4kwp South East facing PV System. 5.3kwh Weco battery. South Dublin City.

does anyone know if the Digital Key 2.0 is available to use on the current model of EV6 (versus the facelift model expected shortly)?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,241 ✭✭✭djdunny

to answer my own question, Kia Ireland confirmed that the Digital Key 2.0 is not available for the EV6 (current & facelift)

I see the prices for the facelift are up on Kiacredit.ie. If I understand it correctly, the prices shown have the grant deducted but don't include delivery charges, so it could add another ~1500 to get the final price.

Interesting to see them back around what the original GT Line price was before they increased it to 65k.

And also interesting that they only show 3 colours available for the GT Line, and no red option for either trim.

Does anyone know if the V2L plug is IP rated as I want to leave it plugged in over night?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,830 ✭✭✭CMOTDibbler

IP rated could be anything. I'd say it's just water resistant looking at it. So maybe IP44 or 54.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 477 ✭✭ec_pc

yeah ip 44 I think, our power is back now so V2L back in the frunk. Heavy rain here today for long periods and no problems, no water ingress.

What all did you power with it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 428 ✭✭Dozz

Wifi, TV a few led lights and a coffee machine.

    All the essentials really 😂

What are you plugging into it to connect these appliances? A quality extension lead?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 428 ✭✭Dozz

Yep. Have the Air Fryer going now

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 477 ✭✭ec_pc

2 TV,s 2 Sky boxes, internet and mesh, airfryer, laptop, 2 monitors all at once. All going well till kettle was added to the mix. Some kinda electrical trip took place, had to start and stop car to reset. All ok after. Good quality extension leads fully extended.

Car is now parked at parents house for a few days to help them out!

How'd you close the waterproof cover? I can't as the wire comes out from the bottom of the plug and isn't flexible - a stupid design fault for our plugs. So wondering if yours is different?

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 41,895 Mod ✭✭✭✭Gumbo

Completely normal, I done the same some months ago. Forgot and just turned the kettle on.

Reboot of the car (on/off) sorted it.

Yes - noticed that on the first extension reel I grabbed as it had a moulded plug, just got another reel with a normal 3 pin plug and the cable was more flexible. Bit of a design flaw perhaps!

Yeah kettle can pull between 2-3kws, that's close to V2L capacity on EV6

Kia dealer on DD seems to have new Ev6 in showroom, showing pictures of a nice grey verson. Quoting just over 52k.

Hi , posted the below message in the bidirectional thread back in December, still have no power since Friday here but getting by with car and extension lead. Just checking if anyone connected car to genny input and used changeover switch? Could shut off mcbs to big power users and solar would still work? Would like to be able to use lights rather than cables to lamps and the smell of vanilla, fig ,mulberry and God knows what candles has me poisoned 🙈. Thanks

Hi all. Re wired the house about 5 years ago and put in change over switch to change from mains supply to generator. Bought an ev6 which has v2l earlier this year and was going to look at it as a back up supply if power goes. There’s a socket in garage to plug in generator and was going to get a cable to connect v2l plug to it. I see it mentioned in earlier post, not to connect to fuse board. Just wondering is this to avoid drawing too much power from the car if a load of things are switched on or is there another reason. The way I was thinking of doing it was to turn off the mcb’s going to the elec oven/hob freezer etc to avoid overloading it. Would this make sense ?

Yes mine was 3.1. And just brain farted and forgot about the other items plugged in 😂

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,830 ✭✭✭CMOTDibbler

Theoretically that would work I think (lots of hedging there 🤣). Your car can only provide a max of 3.6kW, so you'd have to be very careful not to exceed that.

The danger is (say) you have the MCB to the kitchen sockets on for TV and someone switches on the kettle.

Best to make a list of what each MCB controls and tot them up for power usage and then decide which ones to leave on and which to leave off. I assume you've the means to make up a cable to connect the car to the generator input? Also make sure that cable is heavy enough to handle 3.6kW.

What are thoughts on an EV6 from a value for money point of view. Looking at 2023 models, and they are coming in at 35-40k euro. Id4's seem to be a bit less, but not as long on the warranty.

Anything else to consider? Have looked at the Niro ev too

Just put down deposit on a 221 GT model today, can't wait to pick it up! Don't think anything else is as fully loaded for the money.
