Just wondering has anyone here been placed on a panel for either Galway or Westmeath?

And also.. Has anyone from this competition been appointed to an actual AP position in either of these two locations?

...I've entered the 2024 AP competition & I'm just wondering about the odds of actually getting assigned. It seems the majority of posts here were located in Dublin...

I dont think PAS will call any more batches, this panel closes end of Feb. I asked them beginning of Dec what score had they called for Dublin and they said 911 or higher score. I scored 908.

If you have received the 'you are under consideration...' mail and asked to submit references etc does that mean a post will definitely be offered provided references etc are all in order? Or should it be taken literally in that they may still decide not to make the offer regardless?

Yeah can't see there being any more batches with the new competition coming online.

If you have received a under consideration message, there is a post for you.

Just got a message about proceeding to Stage 2

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11 bettyboo13

What score did you get in stage 1?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 115 ✭✭okdune

1751 in First stage and 139/150 in message today for 2nd stage.

Could someone tell me what this means? First time I’ve done this and I don’t understand the process.

    Dublin and Wicklow

Congratulations! It looks like you have now passed Stage 2 of the comp which was shortlisting based on your application form. My understanding is that you will now proceed to Stage 3 which is Interview & Presentation. I'm not 100% on this so someone else on here may be able to confirm.. but it is my understanding that you will only be called to interview if a position becomes available in your chosen county. However given that this comp is due to expire at the end of Feb & they are still shortlisting, there may be vacancies available so you could be lucky! 🍀

Hey thank @is that a button :) Honestly I have felt so blind in this process!

I wonder if it’s based on my application of the role would be applicable to my background? Let’s see.

Do they call? Or Email? Or just another message from the ether ??

While I’m here - could I ask you all what your main drivers were for applying?

Within the end of Feb deadline, interview date set for second last week in Feb. I wonder what dept it could be in!?

Very late for an interview with the panel due to expire at the end of February. You'd have to wonder are there many jobs?

    Thanks

Hi all, I'm currently OOM 2 on a specialist AP panel from last May. There hasn't been any movement on the panel since July/August (3 vacancies were filled in that time). Should I give upon the hope that I might get something from it? Has there been many AP positions filled since the GE?

Dies anyone know if a medical assessment is part of the process before beginning an AP role?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 50 ✭✭Avdel

I've never heard of anyone having ti do a medical before being appointed

What would the the best prep for someone coming in from the private sector with no CS experience? Would it be best to get familiarised with the work of the specific department itself?

I would recommend reading the Statement of Strategy of the Dept you are going to. The civil service renewal plan would also give you a fair amount of information.

Definitely not for existing civil servants, but I am unclear if someone new to the civil service would have to or not.
