I think Dalot could leave because his market value might be worth more than the value we'll get out of him in this 3-4-3 system. Imo he's a top right back, worth possibly £45m. As a wingback, he's worth less. He tries hard but he just never looks comfortable when bursting into the final third on his own.

As others said, I wouldn't be pushing him out the door. But if someone offers what he's worth as a RB then I'd let him go.

No issues with Mitten he has his place and been around years. I'd much prefer him than the spoofers like Miguel Delaney and the likes.

Apparently he is very reliable for Spurs.

In relation to Mathys Tel, no idea why we want him 19 and no goals this season, makes no sense.

Edit : Ornstein confirms loan interest.

Tel would be a very Ineos signing imo.

United were big on him before his move to Bayern.

Not featuring for Bayern this season, so that would be a red flag. not so much his record itself, but why Bayern aren't playing him. Musiala, Olise and Kane the competition so I can understand not starting, but you'd expect more time with rotation.

as a 19 year old though, there would be good reason to take a shot on him - ESPECIALLY if he is on loan. Stylistically he compares to Rashford in general (good). He'd be an option L10 or up top. He's quick, great technique and a good striker of the ball, good passer too.

Tel, Leon, Heaven, Chido, Dorgu, Kone - you can see INEOS taking a very hard look at younger players for the long term - assuming we are in for Tel. I can certainly see us being more interested in Tel than an older 'peaked' player like Nkunku or someone like Joao Felix.

I've no real doubt we have interest in Tel. I do have doubt we can pull it off, for either financial or competitive (other clubs) reasons.

Our two most recent signings from BM have worked pretty well so far. He's young and plays in a position we are short in. A loan with an option but no obligation would be just the ticket.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,143 ✭✭✭Rocket_GD

Exactly, if we could get him on loan with an option to buy it's a no brainer really. He can play anywhere across the front and if we're to lose Garnacho and Rashford then we need some bodies in the door.

Reports that he's willing to come on loan to us over a permanent move to Spurs, just shows despite how crap we've been, there's players out there who want to come to us.

Unearthing the next Mbappe was what Ineos said they would do rather than sign the big name players.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,263 ✭✭✭✭billyhead

In fairness it shouldn't be too hard to become our starting striker with the competition up front.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,782 ✭✭✭Iseedeadpixels

While our forwards arent playing great they're also not getting much service.

Hojlunds XG in the league is just over 2 and Zirkzees is just under 4 which is showing how few chances they get.

tel is starting for bayern tonight. i cant get excited about this transfer as i dont think we get him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 968 ✭✭✭jayo44

That's fair point and I'd agree but also on the other hand if a forward is not getting into the right positions then he won't have much if an xg stat. How many times do we see rasmus out near the corner flag in possession and no one in the box, or Garnacho or amad just outside wide of the box and zirkzee outside the D.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,782 ✭✭✭Iseedeadpixels

Yeh he needs to make runs, no idea why the ball is being lumped to him it doesn't work or suit him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 968 ✭✭✭jayo44

He comes across as the least goal hungry forward ever ha. His work rate and link up are very good but when you have no prolific wide players you can't get away with that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,782 ✭✭✭Iseedeadpixels

The u23s beat Oldham in the national league cup to top their group.

Goals from Moorehouse, Sharpe, Obi Martin, Mather, and Musa.

Didn't see the game but read Kone had a good game, Mather I have a feeling will be stepping up next year.

And given his versatility it still allows you down the line to sign one of those other LWBs if the possiblity arises with Dorgu moving to RWB.

The club have brought in a seemingly legendary track and field coach to work with the coaches,Amorim said the club did it,not him!

Also in case anyone was wondering…..Amorim would not let SJR pick the team for him!

The press conferences are tragic,it's either the above question or 5 different questions on Rashford!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 8,374 ✭✭✭El Gato De Negocios

So unless the manager is lying through his teeth, there is a way back for MR and its up to him to take it. He doesn't imo have the stomach for the fight so it will be interesting to see what happens if he doesn't get a move before the window closes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 48,940 ✭✭✭✭Mitch Connor

If we assume amorim isn't lying, that Rashford hasn't been able to correct whatever the issue is in the last 6 weeks would indicate that he won't.

Whatever amorim expects if him, just seems to not be possible for him. I find that odd, but I don't see how it can be seen differently.

I would certainly be very surprised if he was back in the squad the weekend after this one (window closed).

This appears to be it. Can be involved in birthday slaps on the training ground but not sit on the bench instead of an empty space. Especially since the team are much better with him in it (another thing ignored from the quote, strange).

Much more likely he's being kept out because they're trying to sort a move and he's distracted which wouldn't be the first case of that and very understandable on Amorim's part.

The hyperbole will continue until the window closes and it has to be sorted one way or another until the end of the season.

I’m starting to wonder as well. I don’t know if it was you (probably) or someone else who mentioned about the likelihood of everyone else giving 100% in training - I would also doubt that, purely just on human nature. You would be doing very well to have such a large group giving 100% each session. Whoever said it was shot down anyway. So if he is training on par with some others, you could see why Rashford is making noises about it. And if the reason he’s being left out is more to do with just not wanting him and trying to sort out a move, they should just say that. If you’re trying to move someone on, saying they don’t train well isn’t the best move either.

Anyway he isn’t in the squad for tonight’s game, no surprise. 5 more days left in the window, let’s see how it ends. Saudi window is closed tonight, so they won’t be taking Casemiro we can assume.

If the reason he was out of training was more down to transfer discussions then surely there is a better message for the club and manager to put out that he is so bad at training or some other aspect of his approach to football that I would rather name a 63yo GK coach on the bench…

And then we also have the fact he was named on the bench in some recent game (can't remember which) since he was dropped, and then not named on a shorted bench vs Rangers (followed by the GK comment).

Whatever has happened between Amorim and Rashford, or whatever their different perspective is, I just can't see how it could possibly have a resolution that sees Rashford return to being a usable member of the squad - cause if it hasn't happened after 6 weeks I can't imagine it chaning in reality tomorrow (or whatever).

And for what its worth, I don't think it is just training. I think there has to be something more to it, some serious on both sides of the argument. Its a bizarre situation in general imo, cause I don't get how Rashford could be a uniquely poor trainer - according to the narrative - to such a degree he is ommited and no one else is. As much as people on here seem to like to point to Rashford as possibly the worst and most toxic footballer of all time and a source of everything that is wrong at United; I just can't see how that would be bourne out by the reality of his career. Which, while you can be disappointed by his career, being a United player for 7+ years and being an England international I don't see how that would be possibly if he is (and always has been) as terrible a footballer as people make out.

I also assume Amorim is correct in what he has done. I don't think he has singled Rashford out to make a statement. I don't think he is doing this for no valid reasons. I don't think he is being specifiically unfair. So, as I say, i find it bizarre as to where things are - something has clearly become massively broken, but I dont think it has always been as broken without acknowledgement.

Xavi Simmons looks to be signing for RBL for 50m raising to 80m with clauses.
Thought he would be a player we would target this summer as his profile near perfectly fits with what we want from 10s - at that price I an see why we are not in for him, never mind not right now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 8,374 ✭✭✭El Gato De Negocios

Dorgu seemingly going to be paid £30k per week, rising to 50k if he sees out his contract in its entirety. Precisely the kind of money a raw but with potential player should be getting paid. Another signal that the days of unproven / unworthy players earning big bucks is at an end.

IIRC RA mentioned in a previous, recent interview about personal life for MR, perhaps he's giving it loads in training but is enjoying an off field lifestyle that is below what is expected? Maybe his Belfast adventure wasn't simply an exception. That would make alot of sense tbh.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 48,940 ✭✭✭✭Mitch Connor

Apparently his deal with RBL is only on contract til 2027!

Have to imagine this is a FFP move and PSG will buy him back in summer 2026 for some profit on the deal they have done here. Effectively a high priced loan, other wise the contract length against the transfer fee is INSANE.

Whatever the issues are definitely are not all about how he is training.

I suspect there are other issues at play connected to his personal life .

Unfortunately whatever it is has been going on for too long and for a player of his talent not to be able to make the United bench, dropped from the England squad and for very little interest of any of the big clubs to get involved in the transfer saga it says a lot.

Yep, I'd say Rashford just is fed up and wants to go which probably feeds into training and discussions with Amorim which he's probably sniffed out. Which is obviously the correct approach.

I don't think it's a completely irrevocable situation if he doesn't get the move and why both sides have left it open somewhat.

I was the one shot down for suggesting Marcus wasn't the only one not giving it his all, but as I'm in the same PR firm as Liamo it wasn't a valid point.

I think they've decided rightly or wrongly that MR is a culture setter at the club in a bad way. Whether this view has been come to through evidence, deduction, perception or bias is unclear for us on the outside.

It's not an unreasonable stance in isolation as he is the senior pro who has been around the longest during the ongoing malaise.

Is it fair though? He was a talented youngster for the majority of the aforementioned malaise and is more likely a victim of it than a perpetuator. That's the part where I'm not sure. I love Amorim and want him to succeed but it is these areas where he will probably succeed or fail. If they get MR out and then the culture changes and everyone is rowing in the same direction under the manager - great!

But as looks more likely now MR remains at the club and continues to be left out and the players he does have influence over begin to question the fairness of the situation, the coach likely fails and his ideas and approach die on the vine.
