Claire asking people to whatsapp in their images from the storm. Does she not realise there is still vast communications outages around the country?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 19,423 ✭✭✭✭elperello

    Clearly she does.

An interview with Seamus Boland on the subject of communications and other issues now.

You'd really want to be at a loose end to know who's agent every contributer to a radio programme is. Maybe just me, but the last thing I'm thinking about when I'm listening to Claire byrne or matt cooper is who their bloody agent is!!

Not a good strategy kg … its very handy to know the background of where these chancers spring from.

You had Mullooley on CB this am getting stuck in over the handling of the storm aftermath.

It would not be surprising if he pulled a few strings in RTE to get a lot of airtime and keep his profile high

in the electorates mind. Small stuff like that is important , not suggesting one spends too much time on stuff like that but

sometimes following the trail can reveal a lot when you join the dots

It's pretty transparent here really. You'll hear plenty about a contributor's/presenter's history/connections if they are critical of certain sacred cows. A bit like flicking through a colouring book and seeing only selective dots joined.

Not all torn new one's are equal, so to speak, if you tear the right ones you'll be left alone.

Item on Trump firing public service workers in America which has nothing nothing to do with us and never a debate on RTE salaries.

She also linked Peadar Tobin's call for greater controls on public money with Elon Musk in order to dismiss his intentions.

    This is our media.

I think what is going on in the US has a lot to do with us.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 79,532 ✭✭✭✭FrancieBrady

It's not marketed as a programme solely about 'us'.
It is a programme about current affairs and has always featured items of interest from around the world.
US politics doesn't hold a whole pile of interest for me but I understand it does for many.

The issue of federal workers has nothing to do with us.

She has never once had a debate on the large RTE salaries. This affects us.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 19,423 ✭✭✭✭elperello

It's part of Trump's takeover of Government which will affect us.

The RTE salaries thing is whataboutery.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,686 ✭✭✭✭hotmail.com

It's a domestic matter with no implications for us whatsoever.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,686 ✭✭✭✭hotmail.com

Things are bad here but at least we don't have Trump. That seems to be the RTE angle during his last term and we're already back into that mindset.

It's going to be difficult to be an opposition TD in this Dail. If they mention anything mildly similar to Trump, people like Claire Byrne will compare them to Trump.

Ok you're not interested but the world doesn't revolve around you.

The show covers many topics, not all of them are of interest to me either.

That's not symptomatic of a failure of media.

This lady isnt giving much advice on how to start using weights. Literally her advice for every query is visit your physio before doing anything so basically she is trying to drum up business for physios!

Paddy Hayes, CEO of ESB Networks has just been on to give an update of the power system after Storm Éowyn. It was the most painful interview I have ever heard. Almost every second word was "Eh..." with lashings of "stakeholders" and other bullshít corporate speak. An A.I. bot would have performed better.

He was terrible! How many times did he use the phrase "taking stock"? More like laughing stock.

Item on Trump's comments on Gaza and who does Claire Byrne invite on - a journalist from the LA Times, an American publication.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,349 ✭✭✭✭zell12

SF on housing stats: lie lie lie, the government knew it was lie

Claire: just be careful about using the word lie

SF: lie lie lie lie LIE

The indignation from the honourable Minster was fairly subdued as well.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,349 ✭✭✭✭zell12

Even Claire mixed up Comreg with the CRU when discussing ESBN there with Simon Harris

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,349 ✭✭✭✭zell12

Thought Claire's questions on any response to US tariffs was stupid. She kept asking how we Ireland should respond to same, even though the contributor told her repeatedly that we are the EU, yet she still kept trying to differentiate

Claire watching SkyNews live in the studio

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,686 ✭✭✭✭hotmail.com

Sinn Fein's position all over the place on Trump.

I think most Irish people outside of twitter bubbles care first and foremost about our economic prosperity and not Gaza. That doesnt mean we approve of bombing etc but we care about ourselves first.

Christ! Does Richard Boyd Barrett have a non shouty mode and who has the remote control? It’s not acceptable for listeners to have to out up with this on a public station. Claire should be telling him to tone fine the delivery.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,349 ✭✭✭✭zell12

He does get his message across though! If he was softly spoken, then he would not sound as outraged as an opposition TD

LOL at finishing the exercise report with a long snippet of Let’s Get Physycal by Olivia Newton John. I don’t think the song means what they think it means! 😀
