My electricity went off at 6.40 this morning as my door bell is wired to the power supply, it didn't come on again till 5 this evening. Luckily I charged a few lights and various other devices. Couldn't work out though how to stop the smoke alarm chirping. I'm in Oranhill, in Oranmore and part of the wall and fencing to the building site buckled from the force.

Thankfully the worst outcome hasn't seemed to have materialised for those in the path of the core winds.

But it's worrisome to have so many people without power, water or communication as the colder temperatures set in.

Dexcom probably got some shelter from the motorway, the met station is the other side of the motorway. Lots of people reporting missing roof tiles, one estate was blocked as large trees fell outside, the town was cleaned up pretty quickly from what I hear. Not too many reports as many still without power or Internet.

Don't I know it but I doubt the way Boards is these days that they could link anything to anyone. The site seems to get clunkier with the years. However, west Clare/north Mayo/west Limerick or whatever it may be isn't really going to get anyone sent to jail, virtual or not. 😎

anyone else having trouble getting through to their home insurance today? Roof is damaged and I’m not sure if it’s considered an urgent claim, but I’m on hold hours now!

I'm in the same parish as you and no one I know is getting 60 outages a year. Something must be seriously wrong there. That does not reflect the quality of the network.

Well that was the most boring storm ever. Cork city. One plant pot blew over. Slept like a baby.

We dodged it mostly. Eunice was shorter and it damaged our roof in Cork harbour.

Ok. He was being interviewed by Kieran Cuddihy at the time. It was the abruptness of the reply when asked did he have a relationship with M.E. that gave the impression that it wasn't great.

😁 It wasn't the worst down here, althought the gusts around 3 to 4am sounded violent.

A quick walk in town earlier, hadn't noticed any debris, unlike the last few storms.

Lots of damage to my neighbours houses, at least four of them have roof damage. Some debris hit my car just a few scratches but lots of my neighbours cars with broken windows on their cars from tiles flying. No power, mobile signal, WiFi, but water is working. A little bit of snow now to add to the it all. Loads of trees down and farm sheds damaged too. That's the worst storm I've ever witnessed here in South Sligo

The water issue looks serious. I hope everyone treats this situation as a drought and conserves.

Water supply outages expected to increase

Uisce Éireann says the number of customers without water likely to increase.

It says there are currently 138,000 people without water and a further 750,000 who are at risk following Storm Éowyn.

Water supplies in Galway to run out

Uisce Éireann has warned that parts of Galway will run out of water overnight after Storm Éowyn knocked out power to treatment plants in the county.

Margaret Attridge of Uisce Éireann said 120,000 people across Ireland are without water, adding that Galway is "probably the worst hit county by the storm".

Speaking on RTÉ's Drivetime, Ms Attridge urged people across the country to conserve water.

"The reservoir levels are falling there and an awful lot of our treatment plants are without power. The treatment plants aren't in production.

"We will see, over the night, those areas in Galway run out of water so what we're asking people is to just - right across the country because this is widespread - conserve water," Ms Attridge said.

House survived but we were blocked in, small road.

Trees down both sides of the road so we couldn't get out til this evening.

Had to drive 25km just to get phone signal. No power, not even 3g or sms working..

Hope you are all safe after that storm.

It's an incredible example of how important electricity is to the functioning of a society with any degree of sophistication. Alot think that if the internet went down we'd all be doomed. They couldn't be more wrong.

5 down. How many more named storms to go this season?

We are thankfully a long way off matching the 2023-24 storm season during which there were 12 named storms affecting the Western Europe Group area formed by Met Éireann, the UKMO and KNMI. 2 other storms were named by the Southwestern Europe Group, storms Elisa and Geraldine (named by Météo France).

The next storm on the list is Storm Floris who 'could' be making an appearance on Sunday into Monday. Met.ie, KNMI and UKMO will be the judge of that.

Still waiting Met figures for the stations that went offline before I post my storm comparison table. If they're not here tomorrow, I will post it with what's available.

The national average max wind gust was 123 km/h which beats any storm on the table back to 2011. Darwin was the previous with 121 km/h national average.

No respite at all it seems with some models showing 120km/h gusts for parts of the SW on Sunday.

I'm missing Belmullet in the list. Last report at 4am had 96 km/h gust and 940mb (I think lowest pressure of all official weather stations). Max gusts at 5, 6,and 7am must have been significantly stronger.

Churchtown Weather Station (D14) - Dublin/Wicklow mountains were providing protection perhaps.
