Power Now blinking on off Dublin 14 Area last 30 minutes. Some big gusts. Tiles missing from roof. Garden fence down. Using this site to track live weather for the area. Near 90 KMpH gust at 03.15am would have done the damage. Currently gusting up to 45 KMpH.

Dublin 9, no damage to report, just dramatic wind. My wife reckons she heard the roof tiles grinding against each other last night but I can see no damage.

Dublin 5, near St Anne’s Park - some mad winds and gusts but so far no damages.

Somehow was expecting heavy rains, or any rains, but has been bone dry for the last few hours.

…and just as I type it starts drizzling.

Top wind speed in Carlow was 113klms per hour so we really avoided it

South Dublin here too, on the coast and it's pretty fierce still and the gusts are still very strong

Had to bring the dog out to the garden for a wee, didn't want to let him out on his own out in case blew away

It was wild in Sallins from 2am to around 6.

Lost a fence panel but it is still intact, shall slot back in later.

Just happy to still have power !

In Lusk. Wind has been pretty fierce at times. Still have power, fortunately…two flickers, one at 7:30am and another about 10 minutes ago.

https://powercheck.esbnetworks.ie seems to be struggling, not surprisingly. Irish Times homepage is saying 800k without power.

I'd contact your local council first, if its a managed estate you live in then maybe the management company…presume no power cables

Severe gusts. Power on and off a lot

North Kildare. Ten year old up and down from 4am with the wind. For once we managed to keep power so far. Neighbours have lost fence panels but thankfully everything we secured last night has survived for us. Serious wind and we seem to have acquired a new breeze under the skirting boards so will need to check the roof later

Dublin may still have a bit to go as wind as goes from SW to W. More exposed to W wind.

very strong gusts still in south meath

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,647 ✭✭✭Dubh Geannain

It's after picking up again here in Meath. I'd swear were after having 2 of the worst gusts just now. Wind direction might have changed slightly which maybe gives it a clearer run at my house.

Things dying down I think in Navan. Lots of people lost roof tiles around us.

We're in Bray at about 50m and apart from the lid blowing off the water butt, nothing out of the ordinary. Darragh was worse for us due to the direction. I think we're sheltered from south westerlies by the mountains.

Must say, I still get a little thrill when I hear "hurricane force 12" mentioned in the BBC shipping forecast.

pretty much subsided here Limerick city in Clare (it’s a thing). Power never went off. Got a bit hairy, but no damage as far as I can see. Tiles definitely lifted a few times during the night, hopefully all settled back okay. Seem to have looking up in the gloom.

Sorry to hear others didn’t fair as well, still going through it. Now for some Zzzz

Has anyone cursed their child by naming them Éowyn?

Imagine spending your life constantly correcting people spelling it Owen.

Welsh name i guess cuz of the y?

I mean relative to elsewhere and the wind speeds which models suggested were possible. The potential for a far worse morning was there.

I understand that, but it's not per standards to include a switch to go off grid if you have an installation in which you can feed into the grid afaik.

cabinteely here, garden fence has a very heavy lean, but it’s still pretty windy so will take a look once it settles.
bins knocked over but otherwise everything seems ok

I've yet to come across an example in the wild which is kinda surprising given it's the name of one of the most prominent female characters in LOTR.

I've direct roof access from my apartment in Dublin 8. It's fifth floor. So did a quick lap to make sure all was good. Very gusty still, takes the breath away. But from up there I didn't see any obvious signs of trees down or local damage.
