    Power gone.

North Kerry on mouth of Shannon. It's bad. Never heard sustained wind like it before. The noise is frightening. Power went for 5mins about 20 past 2. The roof tiles are getting a good rattling. Power gone again as I type(2:56) nervous enough now for the next few hours.

Red flags - single fault. Blue number - a cluster of faults.

This is equivalent to a Cat 2 hurricane?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,433 ✭✭✭✭Larbre34

The blue figures are clusters of outages. 5, 10, 15 in the same geographical area.

The red markers are new faults popping up.

That's lovely to hear, sometimes they're the memories that stick with us. Great to be able to ask about their memories

Plus nothing beats tea and toast anytime, never mind with the winds you guys are getting I'm sure

Clusters and faults , think clusters are numerous electric pile ons and faults in 1 area if you get me sorry I'm not good at explaining it

Sorry to hear. Hopefully it will turn up in the morning.

No, the most recent sustained speed from Mace head is 117km/h. 2km/h short of a cat 1 hurricane which is sustained wind speeds of 119km/h+

Mace Heads gust of 148km/h is still within cat 1 sustained limits (119-153km/h)

312 separate power outages nationwide, and God knows how far behind the system is given the volume popping up

Having vents in roofs especially during high storms is a nightmare. Some amount of banging etc going on in the attic

There she goes. Well defined centre too off the coast of Mayo.

P.S. It seems it has tracked more South as some models predicted

Unfortunately also there are some entire towns out, and when the fault is fixed for the entire town it presents multiple smaller outages further downstream originally hidden "behind" the whole town fault.

It's going to be a long weekend for ESB Networks, especially after many of their crews have had a long month clearing up the damage from the snow earlier in the month.

starting your pick up here on the coast in Wicklow. Woke up with a strong urge to eat bread (must be caused by dropping pressure) gonna grab some toilet roll on toast as that’s all I bought in the shop yesterday.

I flew in to Dublin airport from Fuerteventura at 1:10am, (flight was delayed by 2 hours) bit rocky and turbulence. Nearly pooped my pants tbh and was supposed to be driving home to East Mayo! Scrapped that idea and drove to stay with my foster son in Wicklow town. Other half sent me a video just there. Leccy is gone and it’s roaring and not red till 4am. Hefty roar off it! Terrifying. He’s not one to exaggerate but he reckons it’s gonna be biblical, based off everything I told him from here I might add. I pray everyone survives this. Stay safe ya all. As an aside everyone in wicklow thinks it’s not gonna be severe here but I told them it will be just not as severe as rest of country. Was pretty hairy driving m50 and the Newtown bypass on N11. Lots of debris and fire brigade and ambulance passed me by when I went through rathnew. Am dreading the thoughts of the damage folks will wake up to tomorrow. Praying like crazy.

Honestly, there could be places not restored for a week at this rate.

I hope the French utilities can send a small Army.
