How do you test a cigarette lighter ? My dashcam goes on and off when plugged in

It may be loose rather than faulty - there's two sizes of socket, a few brands use the bigger type and virtually everyone else uses the smaller type. The size difference is tiny but enough to cause stuff to be loose particularly if the connector isn't very springy.

If it came with an actual lighter, the bigger type is more common as its the heat rated version.

I'd recommend this OP. The dashcam will switch on/off when the car is switched on/off
