Because she showed up to a Presidential Inauguration in basically fancy dress.

If Donny has warped her mind to the point of lunacy, and who could blame her, then that is important.

Standard of living! Have you ever seen the queues outside the various evangelical churches looking for clothes, food etc. Have you ever taken a bus ride in rural America and seen the poverty all around you! As for social awareness it's probably the most backward country in the western world. The standard of living and the cultural history and awareness in western Europe is miles ahead of anything in the states.

I don't think she's been warped. I think she wanted to marry a rich man for the status and now she's waiting out the clock. There's clearly no affection between them.

He’s doing exactly what he promised to do. He’s giving his cronies exactly what they want. Why would you be surprised at all?

another case of reaping what you sow. Trump was backed by the biggest police unions and law enforcement overwhelmingly supported him.

I feel no sympathy for any of them.

I'd feel for those Palestine "supporters" of trump if it hadn't been so obvious at the time that they were just nasty people who were only stupidly using it to score points.

A republican representative is calling for that bishop to be added to the deportation list. Don’t hurt my dear leaders feelings. Free speech…what absolute sensitive fannies

Well when the MAGA right have defined traditional centre or even centre right polices as far left and communist you may have a point. But only if you accept the contention that the are far left

Big difference between marrying a "wealthy" man for their status and quietly putting up with their infidelity.

Different ball game when that infidelity and sexual criminality is played out in a court house.

Maybe she doesn't care. But it must take some sort of toll.

I know that most people here may not have a high opinion of John Bolton, Trumps former national security advisor, but now a stern critic. Trump has just withdrawn Bolton'e secret service protection (whihc had been authorised by Biden).

A clear invitation to Iranian operatives to kill him. Also a chilling reminder to current holders of security-sensitive positions to stay loyal.

THere is no end to this man's depravity.

But the reason for that is no globalisation or NATO, or Mexicans. It is the vast inequality inherent in the US system. An inequality that is seemingly applauded by the majority. Even the very mention of higher taxes on those with the most is not only dismissed but derided

The minimum wage hasn't increased in over 10 years but the wealth of the very richest people in the US has skyrocketed. There are still massive issues with healthcare, it leads to a huge amount of personal bankruptcies every year.

Corporate profits have soared, fueling inflation for the working people.

And Trump will not do anything to address any of that. But he has, like in the UK with Brexit, very successfully created the narrative that it is the rest of the world being unfair to them

    #MEGA MAKE EUROPE GREAT AGAIN

Without getting into a discussion on either gender or immigration which I’ve no intention of doing, but as an example both of these areas have seen elements introduced that have greatly divided society and indeed have created both unforeseen and predicable challenges - some of these challenges were created through legislation and political decisions made that in some, even many peoples view, were too “radical” .

im all for a progressive and inclusive society but at the same time, I think there has been an element of ill advised and reckless decision making in recent years.

What Trump and moreso the Republicans are offering, is to fix those issues- I can see why many Americans are going for Trump right now- Americans perceive that they have lost a lot of what made them America - I hate MAGA, but I also understand it- and I think that other countries will also start to look inwards as energy costs hit, as housing comes under pressure, as potentially the next recession is about to hit (statistically speaking)

Where they gonna deport her to? She's from New Jersey!

Collins must be looking for a big job!

She would have known that going in. He dumped his first wife because her breasts weren't big enough. It's a mutually beneficial agreement. He gets a beautiful wife to show off in public while getting to play around on the side and she gets a whopping inheritance when he goes, lots of free time and her children provided for. That's clearly all it is.

This of course was before he ran for president in 2016 so the arrangement has been somewhat turned on its head.

For some people, being deported to New Jersey is a fate worse than death. 😁

I think it's extraordinarily fitting that Trump, who is put on a pedestal by the American Christian right, has absolutely no time for forgiveness, understanding or clemency of his enemies or anyone perceived as 'other', and will readily attack anyone asking for same. He and his Christian nationalist followers would be the first to nail Jesus to a cross if he ever did come back.

If there's truth to MAGAs claims, why would they need to lie? Latin American countries emptying their jails sending murderers and rapists apparently. According to you their arguments have merit so why the need to go batshit? Take a look at the front row of the inauguration and you have your answer. The actual people with their feet on Trump voter's throats were sitting there.

Trump stands for nothing. He’s just a lunatic high on power doing “Sh1t.”

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,016 ✭✭✭✭briany

The problem this time around is that the people behind him very much do have specific aims that they want to achieve. In this sense, Trump standing for nothing is worse because he's an empty vessel which they place their ideas into. The only potential saving grace would be that power struggles within his circle kind of stymie how much they can get done, but so far, they appear to be disciplined with, what, getting Trump to sign two hundred executive orders in the last day?

In my opinion, this is all probably too far gone. When we're talking about the US president pardoning 1600 people who stormed the Capitol, based on his very lies, and talking about it like it's just another piece of news, then the dystopia is already there, not just approaching.

Is Vivek already gone? I've heard it mentioned but can't see it officially

No sympathy for Bolton, a terrible person. But yes, it illustrates Trump's petty vindictiveness, as if it were needed.
