    just on this

Fairly irrelevant what tickets sell for in the States, completely different country.

You don’t think Live Nation or whoever are looking at prices in the US as a benchmark? If an American will pay $400 to see Coldplay, why won’t Irish people? I’d say it’ll become very relevant tbh.

That's not the worst tbf, even if they are I imagine miles from the stage…Not many for that price though. I had a chance of picking up upper davin ones for 170ish during the presale. Would have paid it for standing but not for that. SHould have bought them and sold them to friends who would have paid that in hindsight

    Perspectives are interesting.

My father gave out stink about the door fee for some gig last year (20-30 quid) for Jimmy Buckley or Declan Nearny or something like that. Fairly well known artist.

He would call you a fool for think 400 is good value for a weekend ticket to any festival.

All about perspectives. 400 each for a pair is not bad value when a lot of the tickets popping up are 600 for a lone seated ticket.

Agree that people paying the money sadly encourage the promoters/artists…..but don’t hate the player/hate the game.

I am amazed they didn’t add another Dublin gig or 2.

It will be very interesting to see the demographics at these gigs, will there be many scruffy lookin lads with big sideburns and torn jeans having paid 400 nicker for a ticket, all mad fer it yeah, throwing (9….or 10 euro) pints in the air to Rock n Roll Star or will it be more event junkies having the event experience for Instalikes? What will the Venn Diagram of Coldplay, Taylor Swift and Oasis gig goers look like I wonder?

I've kind of been on hiatus from regular gig going with young kids….but how have we got to 400 quid tickets, it feels like overnight. And lots of people see no problem with it. 180 quid across the board would have still been pricey but fair I think.

I paid €220 for my seat in in croke park on the sunday night and am honestly still pissed at paying that price. I reckon I will sell the ticket nearer the time as 'much' as I would like to see Oasis….not that much.

Don't worry.. That's nowhere near the standard gig price. I go to plenty of gigs and this was the first time I ever paid more than €100 for a ticket. Paid €180 for standing in the presale. Said to myself going into it that €200 was the absolute max I'd pay. It left a bad taste even paying that, but in hindsight I guess I got a relative bargain compared to the daylight robbery of the surge pricing.

As for the demographic.. I'd love to think the crowd would consist of a mix of fans from the first time around like myself and younger fans who never got a chance to see them before, but have been to Noel and Liam solo gigs. But I think there'll be plenty of day trippers. Was surprised to hear from a few people I know who tried for tickets despite never showing any interest whatsoever in going to see them in the 90s and 2000s.

Section 708 in the top half of the alphabet A-M. Not going to be specific for obvious reasons.

I think you're overestimating the number of people who paid 400 quid a ticket.

I just picked up a second standing ticket. I

Not sure where you got the "people see no problem with it", it's been discussed to death, even made to Liveline.

But the tickets went on sale five months ago, maybe it's time to get over it.

Keep trying. Baby woke up at 5.15am this morning so I checked and managed to bag a pair of ordinary standing resell tickets for €412. Anecdotally, early in the morning seems to be the best time to try.

Definitely more tickets popping up over the last few days. Maybe some people have credit card bills to pay after Christmas!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,217 ✭✭✭FullBack Jam

Was that €412 for 2 tickets. Maybe prices coming back to (semi) reasonable affordable prices.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 109 ✭✭Fatnacho

Yeah, came in at €206 per ticket after the service charge was added.
Couldn’t believe it when I saw them and then when the payment actually went through. Was expecting the usual “this ticket is no longer available” message. Surprised I managed to beat the bots to be honest.
Hopefully, more will get sorted with decently priced tickets over the next few months. As I said, well worth keeping an eye out especially during the mornings.

Hi...Was that on the ticketmaster app? I wonder does it make a difference being on their website rather than the app

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 109 ✭✭Fatnacho

Yeah, it was on the app. From previous events or gigs, people have always said the website was a better option but managed to get through to the payments page on the app as soon as I clicked on it. Verification and payment went through very quickly as well.

Obviously got very lucky but hopefully it means more realistically priced tickets are becoming available. I’d definitely hold off buying €500+ tickets unless absolutely desperate.

    Good stuff.

    Glad ye got sorted.

Thanks for coming back to me

My Cassidy Travel package for Manchester was expensive esp seeing that €610 for the ticket alone but suppose I'll make a holiday out of it and have time to pay it off

I'm hoping I will pick up a 'normal price' for one of the Croke Park shows

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 10,024 ✭✭✭✭893bet

Well done. My pair this week were 1010 by contrast….!

I am surprised you got them as I assumed there would be “sniping” software being employed to detect “cheap tickets” and bag them fast.

what's the going after market rate for standing at Dublin or Manc?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 16,773 ✭✭✭✭Goldengirl

Thanks for posting . Was despairing ever seeing anything reasonable .

Manchester "in demand standing " popping up daily on resale for 410 pounds after fees . Imagine 170 to 250 ones will pop up in months closer to it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,913 ✭✭✭Former Former Former

Most people with tickets to shift for an in-demand show will offer them to friends first and resell on TM only as a last resort. I know that's what I do anyway.

As such, I'd say most of the resales will be the expensive ones and very few of the regular prices.

I'm still on the hunt for two standing tickets for either night. Plenty of seats popping up but I won't pay 500+ for nosebleed seats at this stage. Generally speaking, the money doesn't matter for me with something like this. I always said I'd travel anywhere for an Oasis reunion, it's a must see. I don't smoke or really drink these days so I'm quite happy to splurge my disposable income on this sort of thing. Fingers crossed for some luck with the resales!
