What should I do about my tiling?

    Hi all,

Looking for advice without the criticism please. So I built a new house approx 3 years ago and had a tiler who was recommended to us. Unfortunately after having the tiling done we realised that it wasn't the best tiling job. I called the tiler back and he said it was to do with the floor being uneven etc, as I'm not a tiler and have no idea about this I just went along with it.

As time has gone past the bad tiling has annoyed me more. We now wear no shoes in the house because we have little kids and the feeling of the tiles under my feet cause me so mich frustration.

Basically I am looking for advice. Is it too late to go back to the tiler now? Do I go the legal route?

    Thanks in advance

Have you had a word with whoever recommended them?

If by any chance the tiler had a National Guild of Master Craftsmen logo anywhere, you could contact them. They're supposed to monitor the standard of their members' work.

It's just not a great filing job. Short of ripping it out, what so you want to do with it ? Fill in where the groupings come out... and I'd leave it. You don't get a second go at it, it's done...

What's the deal with the orangey corner of the bathroom, can that not be wiped off ? If not, I'd run down a bead of same colour silicone down the joint, looks awful...

To be honest the corner section is terrible and I've no idea why you didn't mention that to the tiler at the time. No uneven floor explains that. The other pics don't show much wrong except for the fake timber tiles which looks like they just need a bit of re grouting. The corner section is too big to fix properly with silicone so I'd look at at getting a white pvc corner bead to stick up on it to hide the mess

Time is contagious, everyone is getting old.

After 3 years has passed, I don't think you'll have much comeback at this stage. I suppose you could always ask him nicely, but that 'tiler' is not gonna want anything to do with the costs it would entail to remove all that tiling and supply and fit new tiles to a standard that you'd now accept. It's a petty you didn't make him rectify he mistakes when you called him back the first time.

Not a chance, they check nothing only that the trade pays a subscription
