Dlcs are on the disc. Got it for chrimbo and was looking for the code but no, installed them direct from disc. Altho not got round to diving into it properly yet

Thanks man. Gonna pick it up tomorrow. I never played the first, looked real janky, really enjoyed Control though, must do a story catch up before it. I still don't know what kind of game it is, looks like a mix between life is strange and silent Hill with real life cinematics thrown in but i think it will serve me best going in as blind as possible.

I think playing AW1 will stand to you. It's set in the same town, lots of the same characters and very similar time line.

I played the remastered AW1 recently as it was a ps+ monthly game and it's enjoyable.

But 2 is a real step up in almost every area. But I was very happy that I'd played 1 a week or two before.

I just finished AW1, why i've not got round to 2 yet. It is a bit janky and in parts tedious gameplay, but I found it much more enjoyable playing on easy to enjoy the story and atmosphere without being overly frustrated and rage quitting. One of the dlcs to aw1 is class too, definitely see how that influenced some of control

Aaahh good shout about easy mode, the janky combat is the main turnoff for me so yeah, ye convinced me to get AW 1. I remember years ago thinking damn, lucky xbox, I'd love to play it. Then it comes to PlayStation and thought ah, the Internet told me it's janky, pass 😩

If you buy AW2 disc brand new there is a code for AW1 included, in case you missed claiming it when it was on psplus

So Remedy, how much jank do you want in AW 1? YES!

The movement, combat, voice acting, man it's old. But, I'm already intrigued to see what happens, great little opening and introduction to the town.

I'm really enjoying the story of AW1, Wake is an asshole and fairly mental, interesting character but man, i wish there was a button to skip combat sections, i feel they're getting in the way of the story.

Prob the best advice is to not worry about batteries or bullets. They tend to give you plenty. Blast them with the torch and then shoot. If there is a lock on setting in the settings turn it on.

It gets funner with flash bangs and shot guns.

The DLC for 2 with the waitress is like a Tarentino movie

Easy mode is definitely helping and yupp blasting the torch and bullets and the game is throwing supplies at me so all good there. I'm tempted to go through control after this again before 2.

I just started chapter 3 and thought this might be a long ass game if 10-15 chapters like modern games but Google says there's only 6 which is good news.

Yeah I think it was around 10 hours. So not too bad.

I'd horse right into 2 after 1. It's so good. And you don't want to be too burnt either.

Yeah 6 chapters and about 2 hours each max. The 2nd dlc is class and only length of another chapter, maybe less.

Agree you get loads of supplies. Quite a few times you can just run for it to the next light checkpoint also to avoid the tedious combat

Has anyone here bothered with doing the Final Draft playthrough? Between the main story and the dlc, I've definitely put in over 30 hours and it pissed me off after finishing the game that I'd have to do a runthrough of the whole game in 'Final Draft' mode to get the true ending. Completely sours the experience for me tbh. It's like finding out you could only get the true ending to Arkham Knight if you collected all the Riddler trophies.

I didn't. I can't even remember if it was available when I finished the game, but even then I don't think I would have bothered with it. It felt like it'd be a long enough game to get through even knowing where to go and what to do, as you'd still have to do huge parts of the story again. It's why it's actually more egregious to me than the Riddler Trophies, because at least that's a 100% game completion to unlock the true ending, rather than having to play the game again (though it's the amount of Riddler Trophies that's the issue there).

I also never got round to playing the DLCs. Again, not sure if I'd bother, especially since I've never played Control (it's on the list to get to eventually) so that DLC would probably be completely lost on me.

The base game was great and I thoroughly enjoyed it, but not enough that I'd be clamouring for a NG+ playthrough or DLCs.

I loved the base game. First DLC was… fine. Felt like something small to keep you interested before the second DLC was released. Didn't really like the second DLC at all, I played Control but wasn't a massive fan of it and this very much felt like a Control DLC. Didn't get that far into it and got to a part where I died multiple times and then just couldn't be arsed going back to it. You're not missing much.

The Lake House was a decent DLC I thought. The Night Springs episodes were completely inconsequential and not really worth a playthrough. I played Control but can't remember anything about it to be honest. I don't think playing the Lake House before Control is going to make that much difference tbh.

If you play the Final draft there are some subtle differences in the storyline.

I don't think subtle differences is enough to get me to play another 20 hr runthrough of the games.

I loved the waitress DLC (felt like a Tarentino movie) but the other two are just fine.

The lake house was good though. Didn't over stay it's welcome, but like that im not sure it added anything to the original game experience ??

There are enemies on floor 1 that you just have to run away from. You get a gun on floor two that can kill them. Just in case that's the bit that caused you to quit. Getting that gun ups the fun factor.
