just looking at bringing my campervan from UK to Ireland in new year. Had a look on Camper thread as I remember years ago the ferry issue was a hot topic but I cant find anything in the last couple of years.

So, a quick google tells me that a return is about 500 quid (Sat & Sat sailing). Is this around the norm? Any time of week / month better than any other? Does anyone do discounts / deals that I could look out for? My dates are flexible (prob Jan, but would go Feb / March if it would save a hundred quid ….)

I was asked height of the van, but not length . If I just tick 'campervan' & pick the right height , is that it? Any last min surprises waiting for me at the port?

    Ta

It used to be, if you sign up to Stena Line Extra they would send a 10% discount code, I haven't used the ferry for couple of years now but used to use a different email each year and always got the code - may take couple of days to come through - you can always unsubscribe if nothing comes of it.

AXA also give 10% to their policyholders if you have a policy with them or, know anyone who does.

If you have a bike rack, make sure you check the box and pay for it.

I had bikes on one on the back of my (very small) camper and didn't think of doing this, since I had bought a ticket for a van up to whatever length (from memory 5.9M) and my van plus rack was still below this length.. I still got screwed boarding the ferry though.

They say its to ensure space on the ferry but if that was true then once you're below your ticket max length you should have no issue. But it's not the case. They just want the extra money.
