It's almost Israel's fault that they keep starting them…

Who would have thought convicted felons would be having a go at each other…

    No honour amongst thieves eh?

Convicted terrorist Ben-Gvir and potential War Criminal Smotrich must be apoplectic.

I wonder is Barghouti in the list of prisoners to be released. I noticed Iran have gone very quiet lately. It maybe that Donald will actually bring some stability to the region. Bibi would love nothing more than a war with Iran, but Donald, given his aversion to conflicts overseas involving America, may not give Bibi what he wants.

I think Donald is keen on the Saudis and Israelis normalising ties so he might surprise a few people in that regard. He and Bibi may fallout. I know some of his appointments would suggest otherwise, but let's see what happens

Netanyahu might be in prison in Israel or The Hague soon. He'll very likely be voted out at the least.

    O

You can never count Bibi out. He is a political cockroach the way he keeps surviving. I can't see him ever appearing in the Hague, there is a greater prospect of him doing Jail time in Israel, but I think he will avoid that too. Although Olmert did sometime in prison for corruption . Speaking of Olmert, he and Yasser Arafat's son are friendly by the way. They spoke at a conference in London a while back about a peace plan they devised.

Which wars did Israel start? Go on name them.
Did they start the currrent one with Hamas?

Cue the long-winded explanation of how Hamas didn't start this war..

Ceasefire agreed. A good outcome for all and most importantly, the killing will stop.

Everyone here should be happy but alas they are not. Why?

Why are the people whose new favourite phrase is "student union" invariably blindly sycophantic towards one particular side?

One curious thing I've noticed among a few posters on this site is that correlation between fawning over zionist genocidal criminal politicians on here and the new found automatic disdain for Irish politicians on various threads. It doesn't really appear to have any consistent basis in logic other than "that person is Irish, they have some role or power or influence in some regard. I must denigrate them immediately regardless". We did see it earlier on in the ongoing genocide when articles related to danger to Irish peacekeepers was resulted in an automatic dismissal with disdain of those peacekeepers. It's just very strange.

I guess it's like any cult where as soon as they have you hooked in, they try to turn you against your previous family/friends/life. It's a bit sinister really when you look at how it is affecting some individuals. On a larger scale it won't ever achieve anything.

Delighted that Hamas have at last signed up to the ceasefire and there is now a ceasefire in place. About time.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

Last night, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken echoed Joe Biden’s hopes that a ceasefire deal was imminent. Beyond that, this was a significant speech that contained new details.

He laid out for the first time the plan the administration wants to hand over to President Trump for post-war Gaza. The bottom line here is it didn’t envisage immediate full control of Gaza by the Palestinian Authority (PA) – the entity created by the Oslo Accords that has limited governance in parts of the occupied West Bank.

Critically, Gaza’s security forces would be comprised of personnel from other countries - most likely Arab states although he didn’t name them - alongside “vetted” Palestinian forces.

Likewise civil government meant to replace Hamas – rebuilding, running schools, hospitals, public funds, water etc – would be a mix of some PA, some local leaders, “international partners” and the UN.

This is a long-way from Palestinian self governance but is pitched by the Americans as an “interim” step towards “time-bound” PA control and ultimately a path to a so-called two state solution – an independent Palestinian state.

In reality the plan is a compromise designed to appease the Israeli leadership which opposes full PA control of Gaza, while also bringing in Arab support and trying to prevent long-term Israeli occupation of Gaza on the ground.

But there’s also the reality in this region that the temporarily imposed fix often ends up becoming the permanently entrenched problem.

    From the BBC.

I can see a sudden rush from Ireland to help rebuild Gaza…

It's very good news. Hopefully the daily horror stories of innocent civilians being killed are coming to an end (and won't resume again).

How many Palestinian hostages (Israel call then detainees) held by Israel will be released?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,662 ✭✭✭Markus Antonius

I give it 6 hours before the blood-lusting Zionists maim and kill a household of women and children. They'll call it a "Preemptive strike" or "destroying a hamas weapons cache" and the most one sided war in history will continue as usual

The knives will be out for Bibi now. The hardliners will go for him. Apparently he's dressing it up as his gift to Trump in the hope of winning Trump over. I'm wondering if this is really the end.

It won't take them long to break it and start firing missiles at Israel again. Next time Israel won't hold back and will wipe Gaza off the map.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 599 ✭✭✭DayInTheBog

That will depend on when Hamas start firing rockets at Israel from apartment blocks and hospitals filled with civilians.

A truly nasty piece of extremist work alright. He is an illegal settler himself and would happily sacrifice every one of the hostages along with every single palestinian man, woman and child if it meant complete annexation of the West Bank and any other piece of Palestinian land.

It's not a strategy, but we can only hope. Plenty out there to put Bibi away even before the Hamas war. Perfect pal for Trump, corrupt POS hiding behind his position to avoid prosecution.

In fairness, his survivability is probably less now that he has no pancreas.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,786 ✭✭✭dmcdona

    Because the killing won't stop.

Palestinians will continue to die from starvation, malnutrition, lack of medical facilities, lack of sanitation, a bullet from an IDF Sniper and so on.

Thinking that Israel will stop the killing of Palestinians is delusional. They been doing it non-stop for many many years.

No long winded explanation - just a link:

Cue long-winded justifications for Israeli War Crimes and Genocide.

Not sure if you've seen Gaza lately but it's pretty much ground zero.

Literally tens of thousands of people the vast majority of them peaceful, killed and the same number again seriously injured in a completely avoidable war.

Without blaming any side, it's absolutely ridiculous in this day and age.

Likewise civil government meant to replace Hamas

     – rebuilding, running schools, hospitals, public funds, water etc – would be a mix of some PA, some local leaders,

    “international partners” and the UN.

They need to do this right this time. What's the point in rebuilding the place if those Iranian backed rats just embed themselves in and under all the most expensive structures we build for them making it a target for the IDF.

We basically had American money blowing up EU money in this war. With this ceasefire will Israel recognise the current borders of Gaza and **** off or are they likely to annex parts of Gaza?

Hamas will release 33 hostages, including female civilians and soldiers, children and civilians over the age of 50, in its first stage, which will last 42 days.
In exchange, Israel would release 30 Palestinian prisoners for each civilian hostage and 50 for each female soldier.

I don't think Trump gives a toss about Netanyahu, so it will be interesting to see how their relationship pans out in coming months. Overall, it may be very bad news for Netanyahu that Trump is becoming President.
