Hey,

I'm looking to make a start on setting up a Home Cinema speaker system and would be grateful for advice.

The budget at the moment is only around €1000 so I'm thinking of starting of with a reciever and a couple of speakers. It will hopefully end up as a 5.1 system but I'd prefer to get higher quality in separates than a cheaper package at this point.

Do you have advice on what are the best options to start with at this point?

For the Receiver I would recommend the excellent Denon AVRX2700. It can run 4K @ 120Fps for the new gen consoles and is also very well spec'd.

For front left and right it depends if you want to use bookshelf speaker or floorstanders.

Regarding the left and right speakers, I had thought to wall mount them as it is pre-wired but would something like the 3030i be too big for that? To add in stands would probably push the budget too much. The room is not too big, around 25m2, so would something like the 3020i work considering it will be paired with a sub at some point?

I hadn't considered floormounters at this point for the same budget reasons but if bigger bookshelves need stands it brings the lower end floorstander options into play.

The 3020i would work mounted on the wall and you could then later add the sub in at a later date.

The 3020i are currently priced at 179 Euro

You could get away with the like of the 3050 @ 399 Euro as you say the large bookshelf speakers would need stands which would come in around the same price.

Just another couple of questions if that's ok?

Sound-wise is there a reason to go for the 3050 over the 3030i? I'm aware the 3050 is an older model.
If I went with the 3030i plus stands, is there an alternative to the qa acoustic stand to use? €200 is a lot to add for stands.

Hi Terrarev.

The 3050 have an extra driver which will give extra depth and bass over the 3030i.

You don't have to use the Q Acoustics stands and can use the likes of the Mission Stancetts coming in at 110 Euro

I've had a think on this and I think the best move for me now is to get Denon receiver and the smaller 3020i speakers in white and the stands to go with them. I'll need about 5m of cable as well to run from the receiver

I have a Perx gift card here that I'd like to put towards payment, would that be ok?

Back again here! I hope it's ok to bump this old thread.

I'm looking to add a pair of surround speakers to bring my system up to the full 5.1 and have used Q Acoustics 3020i and 3090ci as by LCR speakers.

I'm thinking of adding the 3010i to this to complete things, though I'm open to your advice for better options. They'd need to be white to meet aesthetic requirements in the room. The Dali Spektor 1 look interesting as well though and are lower profile which is good.

I'd be wall mounting these so would need some wall brackets as well, and the brackets would need a decent range of motion to direct the speakers. Probably around 60 degrees. I don't think the Q Acoustic brackets will do this but maybe the B tech BT77 will do that? Again I'd appreciate your advice.

As you say the dedicated Q Acoustic brackets may not give you the range of movement you are looking for. The B tech BT77 would give a better range of movement for positioning. It is also available in white which would go well with the white speaker, and fit in well with your decor
