Never a fan of his football, but over time grew to like him as a person , was dealt a terrible hand , but he was flushed - timing is strange - given Potter is at West Ham , maybe Mourinho , given timing so strange expect a quick appointment.

If it was a PL game tonight, this wouldn't have happened today

But it's Peterborough. A shock result was MORE likely leaving Dyche there (as is relegation). Paul Joyce from The Times says Dyche told the owners he can't take Everton any further so there wasn't much choice if that's true.

Conspicuous by its absence in the club statement is the usual thanks to the outgoing manager and staff - suggest an acrimonious split!

    A good day

Goodison should be in better spirits this evening

His attitude to the club, the players and the fans has been abysmal this year. Good riddance

I think you could be right, the timing is odd, and the no thanks. Maybe he wanted to walk , Luton job is available today , think he is from that area, and lets be honest a better fit.

Its Moyes until the summer with a possible two year deal if rumours are to be believed.

Someone on twitter called it this morning that dyche was gone.

sounds about right , given where we are at , probably sensible option.

it was a third tier side away to a premier league team with no manager. It was never going to be a classic.

Beto took his goal well. That’s all I’m taking away from it.

the poor quality was a lot from everton - the quality of passing . the link up between everton players was like they were just 11 strangers who met in the park for most of it , and that has been the way for a while . Harrison Armstrong linked some of the best and it was his full debut

Apparently dyche picked the team. Which makes sense as 3 at the back at home to Peterborough is ridiculous

Hopefully we will see a slightly more attacking mindset in future.

That's crazy. He was sacked well before the official teams were submitted. Once he was sacked they could have changed it to whatever they wanted, if they wanted...

Yes but if they’ve trained that way in the build up it probably wouldn’t make sense to make drastic changes.

Really he should have gone on Sunday. Still don’t understand the timing

Reading between the lines and whats come out, Dyche wanted to leave earlier, haggling about money and severance pay , sounds like it was not ammicable given the no thanks etc.

That would make sense actually, he could do well there. He's from Kettering which isn't really the same area but it's not far either. He played for them before on loan

Have you not seen Everton this season? We are muck.

Dyche instilled a philosophy of not losing. Sideways pass to a CB who hoofs into the corner. 50m between the "midfield" and the CF. I say "midfield" because they sat beside the defense in one unit and weren't really a midfield. Dyche wouldn't play O'Brien or Patterson, they offer a lot more going forward. Dyche expected his team to defend and hoped they scored.

In summary, we are muck. We don't know how to attack anymore. I was happy with Beto scoring though. This is going to take time to fix.

    Did you watch the game?

It was a 3-5-2 / 3-3-4 in all reality. It wasn't a defensive attitude at least.

yep, it was a fairly offensive formation.

It was just alien to them. Probably a perfect game to try it out in fairness.

Anybody have the feeling Moyes coming back is going to a big hit..as in save us from regulation.Bring us into the new staduim as manager in charge or we are going to sink big time. Its going to a big hit or miss I think.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,864 ✭✭✭✭thebaz

I just see it as the safest option , no fireworks, just pragmatic football , which hopefully does the job , but in a years time expect it to become a bit boring . Areola from Bournmouth or the Brighton manager would be bigger risk , but more exciting and better long term . But the risk of relegation with the new stadiium is too much.

Sky reporting Moyes has agreed, not sure how I feal , not ecstatic, but think it is the right move all round.

The lack of goals in this team is a bit of worry though.Hopefully get someone in the transfer window.

  • Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators Posts: 22,655 Mod ✭✭✭✭Brian?

it was fairly clear they didn’t know what to do once they got over the half way line. They’re used to having one player ahead of them and not 2-4.

Moyes is an Everton man at least. And identity is important. The club lost all sense of itself in the last ten years.

I mean, Benitez, Allardyce and Dyche. Those are not names that should ever have been associated with Everton. Club lost all sense of itself in the last decade

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,756 ✭✭✭✭lawred2

Yeah you can't just pick an attacking formation out of nowhere in the context of solely playing one defensively minded formation for the last two years and expect it to "work".

oh I know. I’m not blaming the players. I fully blame Dyche.

anyway, went Thursday night. Match not amazing but wasn’t expecting much. Absolutely loved the stadium. I expect it’ll be easy enough to get tickets from next season.
