We've had a really handy fixture list to start off the season and we've managed 6 points from 15. Made West Ham look like top 4 contenders yesterday.
We cannot defend at all, look like conceding 3 at least every game. And have the poorest 2 first choice strikers in the league pretty much in Niasse and Tosun. The former is just utter garbage, the latter is honest but nowhere near good enough.
Schneiderlin should never play again and Gueye hasnt played well in months.
Dismal start to the season and with tougher fixtures to come it'll be a struggle to get out of this poor run of form.
Early season optimism gone very quickly for me.

Lack of top quality striker is a serious worry , Tosun appers to be a Big Sam folly , Lookman should be a given a chance but I worry , Niasse is nowhere good eneogh - I hope with Coleman and Mina to return they can sort out the back - big ask for Mina , and I worry will Coleman return to pre-injury form.

I’m not overly worried because I had no great expectations for this year. But I think the priority needs to be defense. We haven’t had a decent defense since Moyes’ time. Martinez used Moyes’ defense in his first season, and it was great, but since then we can’t defend at all! Even with one of the most unimaginative, defensive-minded managers around we still couldn’t defend.

I have no doubt that Silva will be able to sort the attacking options with another summer transfer window under his belt, but I’m not quite so confident about his abilities with defense, he may be a little too Martinez-like...

Richarlison as a central striker makes most sense surely? Walcott was terrible yesterday is he always that bad? I dont watch enough if everton lately to notice.

There is a good team there and i reckon Silva can get best from it but will take time which he needs to be given.

I agree it will take time and patience - but we do need an out and out top quality striker - I'd like to see Lookman and Richarlison given a go and Siggy just behind - Richarilson is not really a striker - Tosun looks more and more average the more i see -

Walcott started his Everton career great, but the reason Arsenal let him go is he lacks consistencyhe - seams to lack a sort of hunger to really excel

He needs to be played out wide

Tosun needs a goal or two for confidence

Shocking waste by Richi in the first minute

Calvert Lewin.. I just don't rate him at all..

Right so we've had the better first half. Arsenal have not done anything.

So Arsenal to score a soft goal on 47 and Everton to fold.

    Seen it all before.

Let’s just hope Richarlison doesn’t get injured this season. We don’t even have 1 good half without him

    There we are. Game over.

Have we still nothing better than Davies?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,922 ✭✭✭✭lawred2

Well that was a mile offside

    But the defending deserved it.

Hard not to be seriously concerned about Everton this year. Another nothing season on the cards.

Could any more of them have been offside?
Hope Moshiri has the cheque book ready for January..

Have Everton not signed about two first teams at this stage using his cheque book?

Aye, but that was the Lukaku money though. Net spend theory apparently lol

2 first teams minus a 20+ goals per season (I'd even take 10 goals at this stage!!) striker

Even Lukaku would not be able to paper over our clueless defense

How was that a free out? Cech getting too much protection still..

Hard to win when opponents seem to be gifted goals by our inept defending and inept officiating

back on track - think this season will be like this - up and down , as we try and build a good footballing team with some direction, fixing the wreckage of the past few seasons - good to see Tosun score, we still need a proper striker at Christmas, Calvert-Lewis is nowhere near good eneogh at this level - another who needs a season in the Championchip, Lookman should be given a run instead.

It's very hard to know what we need.
Football is all about pace now, and I think a few of our players just don't have it

Richarilson and Walcott have loads of pace , a top top striker is the priority . good news Pickford has signed contract , hopefully Mina starts soon and he can sort defense out.

Ain't no top top strikers about/gonna come though. Season, yet again, is a write off, transition bollocks. I'm ok with that, better to watch and that's the main thing when thinking back on last season :o

We were not that great to watch against Huddersfield or West Ham in reality

    Yesterday was an important win.

Need to follow it with a win on Tuesday and at least a point at Leicester next Saturday. That game is the live 3pm game on sky sports.

Kind of losing faith in Silva at this stage. What was he thinking making 7 changes? There was no need, and given Everton's current run, there's no excuse saying the cup isn't important! Challengers for the title and in Europe might be able to justify making that many changes, not a team that only just got its third win of the season the previous Saturday...

Yeah, results as such aren't a big issue during the rebuild, but team selections are. He finally came across a selection that could both keep a clean sheet and score goals, and for the next match, instead of trying to build on that success, he made 7 changes, none of which were actually necessary. That makes me doubt he knows what he is up to. At this stage of the season he really has no excuse not to know what his best team is. I can forgive his best team not being good enough to win matches, but I can't forgive still making that many changes between two matches (not due to suspensions and/or injuries) at this stage of the season...
