    And yes, automatically added.

Just a quick word on counter picks. You have to pick a game that someone else has picked as one of their regular drafts. So you're essentially betting that their pick won't score as well as they think it will.

As for scoring with counter picks, if your counter pick scores 75 on Open Critic, the player who drafts it gets 5 points as usual, but you lose 5 points. Ideally then you want your counter to score below 70. That seems unlikely given how clued in boardsies are (:pac:), so maybe target games you don't think will make the 2025 release window in which case you'll score 0.

It follows then that we can't pick our counter pick until the regular draft is finished and we know all of the games drafted. There are other nuances to the counter picks but we can cross that bridge when we get to it.

Not sure if practical or indeed preferable, but would a house rule of having to post about bids in this thread work? Just to keep things interesting and active throughout the year, and provoke a bit more competition. Cheeky under the radar bids are fun for sure too, but maybe keeping things more open will allow a more interactive contest especially in the later months (given not everyone will be checking the league site on a weekly or even monthly basis).

Can we remove the crown icon from Penn. I find it antagonizing and their ego is big enough as is?

If you prefer I could just change my username to Penn (CROWN ICON)

A real shame you didn’t pick ‘PENN 1 RETR0GAMER NIL’ as your publisher name to go along with it.

    I like the sneaky sneaky, but agree with your point. What if we make it compulsory to announce you've placed a bid, but that you're not obliged to say what game you've bid on? Otherwise we could just use the public bidding system, but apparently that's easy to "game";

    • Bidding $0 on a game that you expect to be bad, with the intention of baiting another player into bidding on and winning the game.
    • Bidding on more games than you have spots remaining, to disguise your true intentions. For example, you have one slot left, and you bid on 20 games, with the game you actually want at priority 1 with the highest dollar value.

I think announcing you’ve bid but not having to give extra details sounds like a fair compromise alright :)

Looking more into the counter pick system - you can only counter pick a game that someone else has drafted. However, the option exists to make it so that once you've counter picked another player's game, that game becomes undroppable for the player that drafted it. In other words, they're stuck with that choice. How do you all feel about that? Adds spice, I think.

    How's everyone's list-making going?

And don't forget to sign up/select a publisher name if you're playing this year! We'll want to get going in the next week or so.

    Sounds evil

    I like it.

Just checked my login still works from last year, added publisher name for this year now. Sorry if you said before but how many games do we need for our draft lists?

Happy with the counter pick stuff proposed.

    And thanks for organising again

Shots fired with that publisher name! :pac:

At the moment I think we're settled on a total of 5 draft picks and one counter pick, with 5 pick-up games for later in the year. We can change that though depending on how many players we have in total.

So for now, we'll concentrate on the five draft picks. If memory serves, a list of 12-15 games each was enough to get the draft started last year.

I should have said this earlier on, but check your picks on the FC site so that you know they're eligible to be drafted. In fact, you can create a watchlist on the site which makes it all a bit easier.

I'll make a new thread for the new "season" once we're all ready to go on the FC site.

@Kiith @DeSelby83 are ye playing this year?

    @SomeSayKos are you still interested?

Ye sure throw my name in the hat again please. Thanks

You should be added to the league if you choose your publisher name on the site.

    Feedback Needed!

I think we said we'd allow ourselves to drop two games for this upcoming season? There are four options available for drops… Which combination of the following works best for you guys?

    1. Drop a game that will no longer release in 2025 (so any title announced as delayed beyond 2025).
    2. Drop a 2025 game prior to its release (so a game releasing on time, but you no longer fancy it, or see a better option to pick up instead).
    3. Drop an unreleased game regardless of whether it will release in 2025 or not (so essentially it can be either option 1 or 2).
    4. "Super Drop" any game from your roster - it doesn't matter whether it has released or not, already have a review score, been counter picked by another player, or even if it is your own counter pick.

Personally I think Super Drops are OP, and I'd lean towards option 3. That is, we can drop any two games from our roster so long as they're unreleased and haven't been counter picked. What say you all?

I think 3, there might be a surprise announcement and will be fun to see who can get it first. 4 is definitely op.

Yeah 3 sounds fine to me

    I vote for 3 also

Great, we'll go with 3. Thanks all.

I'll start the new season's thread in the morning. It may attract some new players. If not, we should be able to do the draft in the next day or two. 🤞

Where is best place people use for a list of upcoming games of the year? So I can finalise my picks ( put the kiss of death on them)....
