If you don't want sun somewhere in Ireland or Scotland could be ideal. If it was me I'd love to go to Kerry for Christmas, somewhere nice and remote to soak in all the festivities.

We did a Christmas ski holiday last year in Austria. From 23rd to 30th. It was great but I the downtime of a home christmas so don't think I would go again (for a few years at least). My wife would have rebooked though.

I like the idea of a remote big house that could accommodate a large family group & have all my close family together in the one place, but only for a few days. I like my downtime at Christmas and even with family, breaks from them are required 😉.

Having been away fo Christmas a couple of years ago I wuldnt be in a hurry to do it again anytime soon though.

We are considering spending Christmas away this year in Europe and hope some of the extended family would join us. It would just be 3-4 nights from 23rd Dec and we are not looking for a sun holiday or skiing . Has anyone any recommendations of places or hotels for this kind of trip? We are aged from 20-80 and obvs a nice dinner on Christmas Day would be important. Thanks.
