Qualifier for final 8 spots in the Grand Slam takes place tomorrow.
Current qualified players can be seen in bold at various parts of this page 2024 Grand Slam of Darts - Wikipedia

So looks to me that the following Top20 players will need to bag a place via the qualifer.
Price, Clayton, Aspinall, Heta, Noppert, Dobey, Wade, Searle, Cullen. (I may have missed some out, hard to correlate between 2 seperate tabs!)

GSoD group stage draw. No real standout group, largely because so many of the Top20 failed to qualify. Keane Barry has it tough with Littler and Dmitri.

2024 Grand Slam of Darts - Wikipedia

They are sticking with the poor knockout system which effectively makes it 4 different competitions, i.e., in the quarter finals you can meet someone from your original group, therefore Group A&B, C&D etc are mini-comps from which just one player will emerge to the semi-finals. Putting the 2 qualifiers from each group into a different half would be better, but I guess they are never going to change it.

Coverage from Killarney here. Prefer this to watching the premier league. Fairplay to everyone involved.

Dlyan Slevin seeded 10th and gets a bye into L32 stage of the tour card world championship qualifier. He will need to win 3 games to get one of the four spots available. Steve Lennon unseeded and plays Martijn Dragt in the L64 round, he'll need to win that plus 3 more games to get qualify.

If Slevin doesnt qualify then he will lose his tour card and have to go back to Q-school in Jan. No such danger for Lennon as he is on year one of a 2 year card won last January

Steve Lennon loses at first round stage so no world championship for him this year.

Whitlock also out, in jepordy of losing his card.

    No Fairytale for Steve Beaton.

Slevin wins his first match 6-4 with a 100 average. Has to win two more to qualify. Plays Berry van Peer next

Slevin wins 6-0 against Berry van Peer with a 102 average. He will play the winner of Beveridge v Dragt for a place at the worlds

    Rhys Griffin v Adam Hunt

Jeffrey de Zwann v Paul Krohne

    Dylan Slevin v Martijn Dragt

    Matt Campbell v Mervyn King.

    Winner of each match qualifies

Slevin qualifies! Should be enough to retain his card.

Leighton Bennett suspended for 8 years for match fixing. Incredible stuff, just after he won a tour card and was starting to fulfil some of his potential. That's his career pretty much done. What an idiot.

A sad state of affairs all round.

I never bought into the hype surrounding Bennett though.

His attitude was an issue from the very beginning.

Little was said about how he struggled after early 2019. Keane Barry hammered him in the 2020 youth final and Bennett was about 40th in development tours the last few years.
Keane Barry himself has struggled a lot on the tour.

To go with a few other incidents alongside this the PDC probably realised Bennett wasn't going to become an asset for them and took action.

Darts must be near enough the National Sport of the Netherlands

Big amount of Dutch players in both PDC and WDF

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,606 ✭✭✭shockframe

If I were involved in the WDF I would be all for moving the world's out of lakeside and staging it in Holland.

They would sell tickets by the truckload for any big darts event over there and with the better players coming from there and Belgium it's the most logical step.

Be a good idea to bring the modus event in more aswell.

Between WDF,ADC and Modus there could be a lot more joined up thinking.

Cross posted from the other thread, changes ahoy. The Grand Prix will now seed 16 players. Euro Tour will now have the top 16 OoM seeded past the first round, also home nation Euro Tour PDC card holders can only play in qualifying event not both

In the Development Tour, players inside the top 64 cannot play development tour events. This will affect Keane Barry and more than likely Dylan Slevin, if in place for 2024 would have meant Keane Barry wouldnt have qualified for the worlds via the Development Tour.

The change for Development Tour and Euro qualifying makes sense and seem fair, the Euro Tour seeding, less so.

The 2025 PDC Order of Merit Rules have now been confirmed, and include seeding amendments for the World Grand Prix and European Tour.

The PDC Order of Merit Rules - which can be viewed at this link - are the operational guidelines for PDC tournaments being staged in the 2025/26 season.

A change this year will see the World Grand Prix seedings increase to 16 players.

European Tour events will now see 16 seeds from the PDC Order of Merit exempt to the last 32 for each tournament, with the first round seeing the 16 ProTour Order of Merit qualifiers drawn against the other 16 qualifiers.

From 2025, players inside the top 64 of the PDC Order of Merit will not be permitted to enter Development Tour and Women's Series events.

The World Youth Championship will see two players from each group in the round-robin phase progress to compete in an expanded knockout stage, which will now be from the last 64 onwards.

Hi All, Does anybody know of any shops in Connaught with a good selection of darts to be able to hold in shop? I know Barton Smith in Sligo town uset to have a load of darts for picking up and if you liked a particular dart they had the set behind the counter. Its nice to be able hold a dart and get a feel for it rather than buying online.

    Thanks

How are the rankings for that determined?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,805 ✭✭✭✭ArmaniJeanss

Open to correction, but I think they are fairly random for each event, maybe via a draw amongst the Top 8. This helps prevent repeat pairings - if they used the World Rankings you could have the exact same QF, SF and Final match-ups every event.

The seedings for the final event are based on performance in the preceding events.
