Seedings are from the OoM (such as it is) from the series events to date, hence Bunting at 1

The selection for the local players at each event varies, for example the last time there was a qualifying tournament for 2 local Bahraini spots but I think the remaining 6 were from the Asian OoM.

This event the PDC have said its using rankings for the Benelux players, De Decker is on hols so wasnt available but Kim Hybrechts isnt included despite being one place higher than Veenstra in the rankings.

As always for these invitational things the PDC do whatever suits them. It would have been nice to have Wessel Nijman included imo.

Also, I would strongly think that the 8 regulars should be rotated between events from a pool of say 12-16 players to add some variety, as it stands it will be the 8 PL players most weeks. I get they want to draw a crowd but swapping out a couple in each event wouldnt massively damage it. Last time Peter Wright only got to play cause MvG was on holidays himself

best place for it tbh instead of been lost in shuffle on the likes of Netflix & Prime (no doubt they put in a bid)

Ally Pallys contract the next one up, most likely staying there but extending the world championship

All Pally until/including L16. O2 from 1/4s onwards. Just a guess, not inside info.

No change athis year anyway, it's staying in Ally Pally for the next worlds. Barry hearn confirmed same in an interview with Phil Barrs recently.

Would imagine 02 the most likely venue longer term alright, perhaps for the latter stages as AJ said

Went to an exhibition Saturday night where luke Humphreys averaged 119 yet still lost 6-1 to price. Unbelievable standard

Keane Barry has changed his throw a bit,

Be interesting to see how things go for him.

Delighted to see this. I've always felt that the angle his darts went into the board were causing him issues and stopped him from pushing on.

It's not easy to change your throw though so hopefully it works for him.

Decent interview with Adrian Lewis, with some background on his reasons for quitting.

Mervyn king beaten first round today. Mervs average of 95 the second highest in the tournament so far. Only bettered by the guy who beat him

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,322 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

Media reports that Mervyn King has been declared bankrupt with a 500k bill owed to the revenue after not paying taxes for over 20 years. Seems remarkably stupid of him

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,632 ✭✭✭bassy

    Crazyyyyyyyyyyy

No wonder he's driving for Amazon lol

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 701 ✭✭✭US3

He said he didn't realise he had to pay tax as it was money he won not earned. What do the PDPA actually do besides fine people. There has to be more to this. Remember king was working as a courier during COVID because he needed the money

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,322 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

Think its the DRA that issue the fines? But ya PDPA seems largely useless alright. Although tbf King is playing long enough and would know he cant just pay zero tax which seems to be the case here. Also, very surprising it took Revenue this long, I mean King's earnings are very public knowledge.

I'd have preferred if the lower end of the scale was pumped up more than the top level. Like the floor events should give more £s to the early stage losers. If nothing else it would make it worth their while and perhaps make a living from the sport. A lot of the lower end lads lose money over the course of year when travelling expenses, etc are factored in

Will be interesting to see how this works. Will the top 32 not have a bye to R2 anymore and will it simply be 64 seeds vs 64 non seeds in R1 or will they do something else.

32 extra games if they go the route above which by my calculations means that they would need to start around 11th December to keep the same timelines -i.e R2 finishing before Christmas, R4 before New Years and then the remainder post NYE.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,322 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

I agree, firt round losers in PCs should get a nominal (say £250) amount to cover expenses, even if this money wasnt ranking points. Its not going to be enough to make a living but would help players. They have increased the lower end of PC money though. £1,250 for last 64 losers now

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,322 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

Almost definitely going to be straight knock out L128 to L64 and so on. Start earlier as you said and play two rounds before Christmas.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,198 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

Tickets will still be hard to come by but opens up more opportunities with the extra rounds. Potentially some terrible games await

£1 Million for the winner is mental money

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,632 ✭✭✭bassy

not as mental as the money in golf, tennis and the sissys in the premier league football getting 200-400 grand a week.

Luke Littler launch this morning - very fancy, pricey, though there's a fair bit in the box.

I purchased the Limited Edition Signed Littler Dartboard - anyone know where best I could get a Display for it?

    Want to just frame it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,430 ✭✭✭bladespin

Probably need a custom frame tbh, for the shirts it's a large photo/poster frame, nice board.
