Some of it goes towards the cost of running the ads for it. The retailers make a bit from each ticket sale and charities will get a percentage. But, ya, a large proportion will go to the Canadian teachers pension fund.

Why would they give it to a Canadian teachers pension fund when a French gaming company own it?

Are French gaming companies that generous?

Good causes national lottery always do this even if you buy a scratch card but some of it will be going to ceos pockets

The advertisement is last year's recycled with that pair of twits pulling the card from each other so no cost to make a new ad. I guess the cost of running it on RTE, online and in newspaper adverts. Many would buy their tickets via the website or app so depending on how many do this, the amount needing to be paid to retailers would be less than if they were all sold via retailers. But would that cost nearly €9m, even if you include some given to good causes?

After 10.00. Please spare a thought (and some cash from your winnings) for those of us certain to end up with nada! 😥

There’s a 1 in 70 chance of winning a prize (8500 prizes) with the smallest prize €500 so odds aren’t that bad.

Better odds now too than when it was 300000 tickets when I think there was only 534 prizes (2 €1million prizes though).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,174 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

I don't see how it's a 1 in 70 chance of winning a prize when 591,500 ticket holders will end up with NOTHING. Or 98.58% of ticket holders will win Zilch. So is not then a 1.42% chance of winning a prize?

No, wait, I guess it is a 1 in 70/71 chance of winning a prize. It just sounds better putting it that way, rather than saying a 1.42% chance of winning. All I know is that I must have bought at least a dozen over the years and never won anything.

And I mentioned above that I bought 40 tickets in a row for the Irish National Lottery and didn't win a single thing, with an average of 3 lines per ticket. And the odds of winning any prize is 1 in 29.

I think the recent €1 million raffle top prize for Lotto Plus players was better value than the Millionaire raffle. Sure there are more guaranteed prizes in the Millionaire Raffle, but it's €25 a pop. Whereas entry in the Lotto Plus €1 million was €6, and you had a chance of winning the jackpot which was over €4.7 million, and the Lotto Plus 1 prize of €1 million and Lotto Plus 2 prize of €250,000.

LMAO some people seem to be realising that the Lotto is a for-profit gambling product and no amount of time and money you’ve wasted entitles you to any return whatsoever.

Well done on taking the “if you’re not in you can’t win” bait.

I don’t think anyone on here feels entitled to a return from this. We know that over 98.5% of people entered will walk away with nada.

No negativity now please. At this very moment every one of us 600,000 can dream it could be me. Its only after 10pm that there will only be a few of US winners. Dream on for now (with some beer)😀

Is there somewhere to watch the draw?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,670 ✭✭✭nachouser

I would have thought it's about 0.014 chance with one ticket. Having said that, I like my odds.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,251 ✭✭✭PopTarts

It’s not shown live anymore. A random generator selects the 8500 winning numbers.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 341 ✭✭watchclocker

I decided to buy my first ever one of these today but I was too late

Probably for the best I never win anything

I hope the person who wins it has a better life because of it and it brings them only positive things and joy

And I hope it's one of you!

Dream over- nadda-i got within 37 of a winning number in the 500 euro draw - see y’all in 2025😀

It could be you, but not today because we don't invest enough in the app to make it work. But it could be you. Tomorrow, maybe.

Did they show all the results?

Does anyone think the winning numbers look funny under the €500?

There seems to be a lot of numbers starting at

    00xxxx

Then alot of numbers at 01xxxx

And you can continue down that list 02xxxx, 03xxx, 04xxxx, 05xxxx And so on.

    It's the same for the

10xxxx,11xxx, 12xxxx, and same again for 20xxxx, 21xxxx, 22xxxx and so on. And same for the 3xxxx.

And then it seems to stop at 43xxxx.

Or am I sore loser since my number is 448xxx?

    .

Need to check desktop for further numbers as it doesn't show on phone for some reason after 43XXXX

It certainly looked like no winning numbers beyond four hundred and something thousand for the 500 draw when i looked earlier which I thought odd but the last few numbers were obscured so it’s possible they’re still loading or something - the app gives you an instant answer when you scan so do check that too just in case

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,528 ✭✭✭fun loving criminal

Checked the desktop and checked the app just to make sure. I didn't win anything. 😞
