Can't believe the lack of discussion around this. It's been an issue for years at this stage. There's something seriously wrong behind the scenes in respect to S&C

    What's to discuss?

Leister and Ulster have a long list of injured players too. Munster have parted ways with their S&C coach, one of their previous S&C (now with Ireland) is currently on loan to Munster.

Considering where we are injury wise it's not that bad a side, happy with front row selected. Interesting to see how Bleuler goes in this.

Serious speed in the leinster backs

Still expect leinster to be 8-11 pts better than us

Hope it's not a horror show at 10 for us.

Was expecting Crowley to best rested tbf

The half back pairings are a bit of a concern but I suppose it's to have an experienced player with one of less experience. Once Crowley was named for last week then we expected him to be rested this week. From a result pov it's the right decision and Costello intimated as much a few weeks back.

Yeah to be totally honest, if you gave me 5 points between the Ulster/Leinster matches beforehand, I’d have taken it. We’re 6th in the table which isn’t bad considering the dysfunction and injuries this season. It would be a good result if we can get anything from tomorrow imo., before heading into a winnable slate of league games next year.

Do Munster have an actual attack coach???? If they do should he tender his resignation?? They couldn't cut open a pound of butter, as for their slick, 5m penalty moves, it's like Colonel Melchett in Blackadder, because we've used this move ten times they'll never expect it again.

Not looking like Rowntree was the problem..

Beirne's ability to manage a ref is seriously questionable.

Lads blaming our attack coach when we have no scrum or lineout. It's like blaming your engine when you've no tyres on.

Munster have been woeful tonight. We can have excuses of injuries etc which is valid, but we were rudderless for large portions of the game, little plan, poor on pitch leadership.

Leinster by far the better team, SP was excellent for them and well deserving of his MOTM award.

Beirne had one of the worst performances I can ever recall him having.

Munster do not have close to the level of player required atm.

Slimani did awful damage. Making a mockery of the no niq prop irfu policy (the one they open and close mind). You need props. Maybe irfu are happy with non competitive provinces.

Another poor performance. How our coaches got extension is beyond me. No plan whatsoever

No point getting angry lads, this is all geared towards Leinster winning the Euro. then everyone in irish rugby will be happy.

Munster did decide to play absolutely sh!te tonight, so that didn't help us.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,852 ✭✭✭✭martingriff

We were utter rubbish not sured about the geared bit. Leinster could have played 13 and would still have won

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,852 ✭✭✭✭martingriff

Needs to teach them how to catch the ball

Josh vdf was clearly the best player by a mile playing tonight.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 4,152 ✭✭✭50HX

Vdf was motm by a good distance.

We couldn't match them physically, the nullified Coombes, our line out was a shambles.

    Scrum too.

Recurring defensive issues this season with pillar defence.

Skills were very poor tonight too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,567 ✭✭✭niallm77

    The same IRFU who

    1. Moved carbery to Munster from Leinster
    2. Sanctioned Fekitoa, Nankivell, De Allende, Snyman, Frisch etc in recent times, not to mention assisting in signing Jager.
    3. Are Owed what, 10 million euro for the stadium redevelopment

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,946 ✭✭✭Pepp1989

What's that got to do with niq props? Or the irfu refusing to sanction same for munster? I've no time for whataboutery.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,567 ✭✭✭niallm77

Leinster have furlong, who is subject to mandatory rest periods, and when there was a few injuries at TH in autumn, Clarkson was ready to step up.

Munster have Archer, Ryan, Jager and Salanoa. None of whom are subject to game time management like Furlong.

Leinster are not afforded any greater latitude with signings. So whataboutery about the IRFU wanting weak provinces Is just that. The NIQ prop ban according to Humphreys is from 2025 onwards.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,946 ✭✭✭Pepp1989

Widely reported that irfu refused to sanction front row signings for Munster. If you don't believe that fine but then you must also think the munster head honchos are simultaneously insane for not signing niq front rows in the last ten years.

Leinster have had a tighthead niq for the last however many years. So yes, there is a greater latitude there. Nucifora sanctioned slimani on his way out the door.

Humps policy is just stupid imo. Did leinster niq tighthead stop clarkson? No.

The improvement since they fired Rountree have been dramatic...he was obviously the problem all along...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,567 ✭✭✭niallm77

Leinster have the starting Irish THP therefore they get some latitude with a signing. It's not like Alaalatoa was hindering the development of others given Clarkson made his Ireland debut last month

Munster signed Jager a year ago. Who have Munster developed in the front row since Horan, Flannery, Hayes who has been an Ireland regular starter?

Ok so now we are agreed that Leinster have a greater latitude.

Clarkson is proof though that niq props don't matter a jot about developing props. It's such an attritional area that there is loads of game time available there.

Just to be clear, I don't care about leinster having niq front row. I just think the new ban is stupid and the double standards in being allowed sign niq players is wrong.

Munster will not be competitive until the likes of scannell and loughman are backing up first teamers. It's a longstanding problem that is going to get worse through nonsensical policy.
