My wife needs an automatic as she is having problems changing gear due to a leg problem.

She has been offered a Ford Fiesta Zetec 1.0 ECO 100PS 4DR Auto, 2016 with lowish mileage (about 90k km). One careful older driver with a few minor dents to prove it ;-) It has a years NCT and the price is 4k.

My question is the EcoBoost engine likely to be an issue and how much will a belt change cost in a couple of years time (belt change every 10 years?).

Wake me up when it's all over.

I suspect it may be a Japanese import if it’s automatic. Which would be a good thing IMO.

But there is still a chance you could still encounter issues with it. I think a wet belt change is close to €1000 and should be done immediately if no proof of being done before.

They are a fantastic car/engine when running correctly but there are certainly more reliable options out there from the Japanese manufacturers

Someone here was recently saying about belt change in focus and it was close to 2 k at the dealer. Issue is that the procedure is very labour intensive so you better off doing it at the dealer. Auto gear box in those fords is an old power shift with its own problems.

Just did one yesterday no way you are getting it done for €1000 the labour involved is crazy but beyond that belt they are actually a pretty decent car

Thanks folks, great to get other peoples opinions. This time I'm spared the decision as my wife has decided to stick with her current car for the time being.

You can get a wet belt replaced in the UK for c.£620 incl. parts and labour.
