I ensured Peter Burke topped the poll 😂

Then so be it. People have a good moan when hotels increase their prices for concerts.

Yet poor Michael O Leary gets away with it as he has no choice so we’re told.

Claire Byrne once again forgetting to be an entertaining broadcaster and instead acting like a boring school teacher as usual.

Just noticed Claire's pen pic on the RTE website looks like she's on her way to the gym

Claire mentions Daniel O'Donnell was on the telly this morning, telling fans not to fall for scams - a nun in a convent 😉 using whatsapp 😮 gave money to someone claiming to be Daniel

Coming up again tonight on Prime Time.

You can't be too careful with all the scams these days.

If you know someone who might be vulnerable try to help them out if possible.

Wee Daniel already did Liveline in 2023 with Katie - talking about the bad bad people who never sleep.

    Fair play to him.

A lot of his fan base are maybe not so well up when it comes to internet scams.

    He's looking out for them.

Does anyone listen to the discredited Marion McKeown anymore?

She spent the last 4 years saying how great Biden was but now when they're openly saying how rubbish he was, she's finally beginning to say it.

Her analysis has always been terrible and unnecessarily partisan.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 19,924 ✭✭✭✭elperello

    I listen to her reports.

I evaluate them as I would any journalist with the credentials and experience she has.

She definitely has no time for Trump but that's by no means unusual for anyone analysing his first Presidency.

I think Biden was better for America than Trump. A decent man for whom the sands of time ran out.

Trump now has for years to redeem himself so we will see but early indications are not good.

    A decent man?

I think a lot of those supporting Gaza would beg to differ.

My point is not intended to be political - I just think Marian is a terrible commentator on American politics because she failed to comment on how bad Biden was. She is the type of partisan commentator that believed criticising Biden meant you're a Trump supporter. So we don't really get any good commentary off her.

Yes, a decent man who no more than any other President couldn't do much about the Middle East.

You seem to presume that I don't disagree with some of her takes on US politics. I listen to a variety of media sources and make my own mind up.

My problem with your post was that you seemed to be suggesting that MM is discredited in her profession and shouldn't be on the air.

I subscribed to her podcast with jarlath Regan for the 6 months coming up to US election.

    She seems likable enough but

deluded as to how the election was shaping up.As a casual observer I called so many aspects to of it that seemed obvious to me but Marian was clueless in whatever echo chamber she was in.

A real eye opener for me.

I didn't subscribe to the podcast, I only hear her on the radio.

I guess there might have been a bit of denial going on.

She seemed to believe in Harris and couldn't bear the thought of Trump 2.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,750 ✭✭✭✭hotmail.com

Well she spent 4 years completely misreading Joe Biden so yes, in my view, she is completely discredited. I didn't say anything about her not appearing again but why would she be invited to offer commentary when she's always wrong.

She isn't there to hope Biden gets better or hope Harris wins, she is supposed to offer commentary on what's happening in America. She doesn't do that.

Looks like we won't agree on this.

    I still think she's worth a listen.

The next four years will be interesting anyway.

Carl Henry.....on stating the bleeding obvious.

Easy money. You'd know he was one of Noel Kelly's clients.

Always a busy time of the year for Noel's clients. Plenty of new year's resolutions, lifestyle and wellness features. Maybe some financial planning for 2025 with Eoin McGee or childcare issues with Dr David Coleman when Claire (no longer a client) returns next week.

The whole day was filled with them [Noel's boys n girls] - Every show on RTE and NT was infested. 2-3 per show in some cases. Seems Noel is well and truly forgiven

Would be interesting to start a 'NKM Client Count', especially for rte shows.

In fact, the more I think about it, do any of the NKM stable provide their expertise to interviews on TodayFM or Newstalk? Don't remember ever hearing one on those channels.

    Intriguing.

Ruth being challenged a fair bit here.

Obvious that it's all baloney economics, unfortunately, the actual Professor of Economics who is trying to point out the nonsense at the core of her arguments takes a while to get his thoughts his order and by the time he's articulated his point Ruth has pivoted away to grandstand about something else.

ugh ciaran cuffe doesn't accept that not improving roads stops his bus network getting better, as outside dublin that's the only public transport the greens delivered

It actually turned out to be a very interesting segment.

Two experts at the top of their game.

    Worth a listen back.

    They most certainly do.

NK stalwart Pat Kenny regularly has Jess Kelly, Luke O’Neill, Karl Henry, and Pete the Vet on (amongst others). Jess Kelly has a weekly tech slot on Pat’s show though to call it a tech slot would be generous. It’s certainly at the lower end of the tech spectrum, usually things like what’s the best printer under €100 for a home office, or how do I reset my modem, or I forgot my Facebook password and how do I get back in (these were actual topics I’ve heard btw).

Matt Cooper (NK) will occasionally have an NK guest on, but he also does his own podcast with Ivan Yates (NK) and the podcast is an NKM Production.

I’d go so far as to say whilst RTÉ seem to specialise in having NK Talent interview NK Talent, the others play the game too - admittedly to a lesser degree. I was in the Westbury before Christmas and NK and one of the Directors of Bauer were having coffee together. It struck me as a little strange as Noel claimed at the Oireachtas Hearing that he “never even had a cup of tea with Dee Forbes”….it was intriguing as you said yourself.

I like the idea of an “NK Talent Watch” Thread though.

Yes, the salary is enormous, I understand that, but that doesn't affect my soul.
