Olives. I adore them. I've no idea when it happened. I remember trying them when I was a child and being utterly revolted. At some point I must have changed my mind because I can't eat enough of the damn things.

I had a fairly full and heavy shopping trolley leaving the supermarket today . It involves going down a tiled slope to get to the car park . My trolley took upon itself to race down with me barely holding on and wondering if I would fall flat

Then a lovely man put his hand on my trolley , tamed it into slowing down and guided it and me gently on to terra firma

They put a Christmas carol in my favourite game. It's one by the developers themselves (the carol of course) but only plays in December so I forget about it and then it comes back every year.

I have a sibling who has an impulse control issue which I feel is part of hyperactive disorder from his mother, got bored and "trimmed" the curtains in the then unused bedrooms.

Now they are being used and are drafty af, so I'm going to spend my Christmas break sewing some material onto them so they can tuck under the heaters. As I hate Christmas with a passion the idea of having a task like this to do makes me happy. Also a great exercise to get me from being scared of the machine to enjoying using it.

family member recalled me bemoaning that a particular nice Bulgari aftershave had disappeared from the shelves of pretty much every retailer.

Phoned me this morning from the airport saying the duty free was stocking it and could they pick me up a bottle, errrrr yes please 😎👌

I have been racking my brain for ages now about how to explain to people the impact of privilege on their lives and how the lack of it impacts others.

I was reading a post on Twitter, and they put it exactly: Privilege is not about the opportunities it affords people; it's about not having to deal with the often insurmountable obstacles that people without it deal with all the time.

This is mine and lots of ppl I know, have experienced it.

Watching the family Christmas reunions at Dublin Airport on the news a few days back. Always gives me goose-pimples.

The 8 year old is so excited this morning, he said every Christmas Eve he has to make sure he is not dreaming and it's all real!

In order to get my mins in, I deliberately didn't buy a commonly available item. So once I got finished today I went out to the local shop to get them, I spotted some boxed food items in the hot trays in the deli. SAUSAGES! One of the sibs is a huge fan so I told him when I got back and we headed to grab them.

There were 5 or 6 sausages in the box for less than 3€, which he ate on the way back to the house.

Th that I got my mins + in and he got to eat(wonder of wonders) sausages that he liked, while saving almost 5€ on it!

Looking out the window I see petit silver cat jump into the garden, sniffing softly all the way up the path. I spotted a wagtail fly from the shed towards the cat, I picked up the wooden spoon in anticipation of a cross-species brawl. The bird landed a few feet away and started grazing while the cat walked in the opposite direction completely uninterested in it.

I'm taking that as a good sign for the new year.

The feeling of liberation, finding that after Christmas, I have no desire whatsoever, to go out to any shop, store or retail outlet to buy anything.

Last few days spent relaxing at home, out walking and visiting a few local friends. Didn't go out socialising on Christmas Eve, Stephen's Night or

last night and feeling the better for it all this morning.

Watched Willy Wonka (Gene Wilder version) and Raiders of the lost Ark over the past couple of days and thoroughly enjoyed them both.

Nobody will ever beat Gene Wilders Wonka.

Hadn't seen Raiders since I was a kid, and I remember the melting nazi scene terrifying me. In fairness it's aged quite well. Good classic films.
