Printing Ryanair boarding pass

Is there a way of printing off a Ryanair boarding pass for a flight that wasn't booked through your account?

Here's the situation. My sister in law has a flight with Ryanair this afternoon. It was booked for her by a friend who also checked her in online. She has a photo of the boarding pass on her phone, but is concerned that this might be rejected.

I offered to print off a copy for her, but can't find a way of accessing the original boarding pass. I tried the online chatbot, but it was pretty useless. I'm now in a long queue to chat online with an actual person.

Get the booking reference and the surname on the booking and you should be able to access the booking on Ryanair's website.

If it's a screenshot, I've used those any amount of times with no hassle whatsoever

For the future, it's a good idea to put the boarding cards in Google/Apple wallet.

If you have the booking reference you can access the account if you have the details needed to log in and can then print it off. Or she can save as PDF and send it on an email attachment.

A screenshot works fine (for me anyway!), no internet connection needed for that, so it's handy just in case.

And ALWAYS have a power bank and charging cable.

I finally got through to someone and was given the brush off. I was told they would only deal with the passenger or the person who made the booking.

I asked if my sister in law could take over the conversation and was told no, she would have to start all over from scratch. As she is about to head to the airport, joining a queue of almost 200 people is not an option. What an atrocious service!

With Aer Lingus, all you need is the booking reference and the passenger's surname. Can anyone explain to me why Ryanair make things so difficult? Is it just a ploy to put people who run into difficulties into a situation where they have to pay an exorbitant fee to get their boarding pass printed off at the airport?

Unfortunately, that only seems to work with Aer Lingus flights. Unless there's some workaround that I haven't been able to find.

I agree 100%. But my sister in law is not particularly tech savvy and only raised the issue this morning. I foolishly thought it would be fairly straightforward to print off a copy.

But I underestimated Ryanair's genius for revenue generation.

Thanks. I don't know why the representative I spoke to couldn't just tell me that!

I've received an email asking me to give feedback on my interaction with the Ryanair representative. I don't want to get the rep into trouble, but I'm damned if I'm going to give a positive review. I think I'll just ignore the email.

To be fair, and im not one to defend Ryanair, she couldnt tell you that cause you're not the passenger and this was explained. Most companies wont entertain speaking to someone who's not the client/customer etc. Aviation security fairly tight and they have regulations they must follow.

For future the ryanair chat is generally quite helpful and the app is easy to follow. Send your feedback, its important and it wont get the rep in trouble unless they broke some sort of rule.

Someone else booked her flight for her.

Someone else checked her in online.

You are trying to print the boarding pass for her.

You're trying to contact Ryanair to find out how to do that.

Is your SIL completely and utterly useless?

Ask her to ask her friend to send the pdf instead. Or use her Google (or ios alternative) wallet to add her boarding pass (it can be done using a screenshot).

A bit cruel, but in fairness Ryanair can't deal with some randomer (as far as they are concerned) looking for details of someone else's flight.

Not a particularly nice comment to make about someone you don’t know. It was all a bit last minute and the person who had booked the flight on her behalf was travelling and not contactable.

Regarding whether or not the Ryanair rep should have explained to me how to print off someone’s boarding card, she could have done this without having any details of the booking, so there would have been no question of her breaching any data confidentiality rules.

It would have been a very simple thing to do. Unfortunately, Ryanair’s reputation for making things more difficult than they need to be is not entirely unjustified.

And I say this as someone who doesn’t have a general problem with Ryanair. I fly with them frequently and generally everything runs pretty smoothly.
