Yes it's for these reasons that I generally try and stay on BA metal all the way through if I can. I'm guessing you don't fly from Dublin hence the need to have an EI leg. The lack of integration seems very strange, particularly when it would usually mean cutting costs, they are very good at that. Though possibly there will be more movement in that direction in the coming year, with the integration of BA into T2 in Dublin, including the use of the (now really tatty) EI lounge.

Just noticed this on the EI website, so the crew should have known your status. I think this might be new though.

BA integration goes live Dec 9th

Thanks, yes that is new (since the flight I mentioned); and yes I prefer flying into LHR from SNN rather than driving up to DUB and having a long drive back after a long overnight flight. With all of this new integration stuff, I can’t see anything that says they've addressed the seating allocation. I guess we’ll know for sure after Dec 9th…

Is there a weird invoicing structure with Plus fares?

I'm Concierge with AL, have been on 40+ flights so far this year. I was doing my expenses just now and went to the "Print Receipt" option under "My Trips". The amount shown on the receipt is different on two recent plus fares. When I rang the Concierge line, they gave me some garbled (to me at least) reasoning as to why this is how Plus fares are handled. They initially told me it was a flight change fee but backed down when I told them a) I don't get charged change fees and b) I didn't change the flights!

When I look at my email receipt there's a line item for "Extras".

I've never come across this before. Am I losing it or has AL changed something recently?!

WIth TC earning now rolled out for BA and AA for flights booked ticketed by both, does anyone know what the story is with AA flights which are booked through and ticketed by BA?

    Thanks

Last minute I had to cancel a trip, I had already checked in and had my boarding pass issued and I didnt contact them to cancel or anything.

I know from the FAQ below that technically I should not get tier credits, but has anyone ever gotten tier credits for a flight they didn't board and fly? Wondering if the boarding pass alone is enough to trigger the tier credits or if their system is more sophisticated and it looks beyond this.

    3. Can I earn Tier Credits if I book a flight but do not fly?

No. You can only earn Avios and Tier Credits on flights that you have actually flown.

I think the system actually checks who got on the plane. Basing that on there often being a delay applying them as Aer Lingus needs to wait for a foreign airport to send over the passenger list (whereas I presume they already have who checked in on their systems).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 878 ✭✭✭LiamaDelta

Nope you won't get them, the system will trigger your points only when you've flown.

I recently didn't get them for a flight that departed but we had to return due to fog at destination, so the flight was deemed canceled.

Just had a look there, the BA credit card offers 1 point per £1 spent. I wonder if the Aer Lingus one will do the same now from the 9th… Just in time for christmas

Bit of an odd question, or maybe not!

I flew 4 BA long hauls flights over the past few weeks. I have a BA Executive Club and AerClub account. I specifically put in my AerClub details into the BA site, as the tier credits for these flights will bring me up to AerClub Platinum, but would be of no help in BA.

The first two flights went direct to my AerClub account, grand. But, when I went to the BA Lounge in Heathrow, the agent on the desk took a minute to update my details on their system.

Subsequently, the tier credits & avios for the return journey have been applied to my BA account. I called BA and they said when transferring Avios between my two accounts, it will also drag over my Tier Credits?

Doesn't seem to be the case - I guess I have to email BA?

tier credits are non transferable so I doubt they will move across. You’ll have to call BA and hope for the best - i have noticed that if I put the Aer Lingus details in at booking, and then look at the booking on the BA app, it applies by BA details.

I've emailed them now too - it's their mistake as far as I'm concerned. I specifically booked on BA.com using a different email address to my normal BA account, to prevent any cross contamination so to speak, but it looks like the Lounge agent updated it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,988 ✭✭✭Van.Bosch

yeah - not disagreeing with you.

Did you use your BA status to access the lounge?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,257 ✭✭✭kirving

Yep, I had BA Silver already, but this ticket wasn't booked on that profile. I was trying to show the Silver Pass and my BA ticket separately, but they must have linked them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,988 ✭✭✭Van.Bosch

yeah, I’d say that’s what happened. Possible you are only allowed in on a valid BA ticket or something but it looks like whatever they did, moved the earning over to BA.

let us know how you get on!

Some people might know that Aer Lingus have stopped Amsterdam from Cork and are going to go to Bilbao and Bordeaux instead. NO sign of the Bilbao and Bordeaux coming up on the Avios booking system though. I did enquire via Aerclub but could not seem to answer my question.

When is EI stopping Cork to Amsterdam?

I mean I see reduced days for the evening flight from March on but the route seams to be bookable for the next 360 days!

Ah well, whispering1 just did know more even EI on their own webpage but now it's out:

Aer Lingus to cut Cork - Amsterdam Schipol service - Cork's 96FM

Has anyone been able to transfer Avios to BA recently? When i try to use the combine my avios feature on BA it just says "Your session has timed out, please log in again" when attempting to input AerClub login details

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,742 ✭✭✭pureza

it’s working perfectly for me from QR to BA

But if you’re sending avios from AerClub to BAEC,shouldn’t you be doing that from AerClub and not from BAEC?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 206 ✭✭TheBetsy

Yes QR to BA working fine for me also. I don't believe the new AerClub rewards site has the functionality to transfer avios since the old avios site was taken offline? So the only way seems to be through BAEC?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,742 ✭✭✭pureza

AerClub will do it over the phone for you

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 878 ✭✭✭LiamaDelta

Nope, I'm having the same problem.

The BAEC has a 'combine my avios' button and it has instructions on how to xfer from AerClub but it just keeps giving an error message

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,742 ✭✭✭pureza

They’ll transfer over the phone for you,AerClub will

I’ve used the combine my avios on BA to send to EI but have never done it the other way around,I don’t know if you can

You can also transfer via British Airways Facebook chat. Converted avios from AerClub to ba last week

BA just announced that they are following their peers and transitioning to tier entitlements based on £s spent on your flights (you personally have to fly them similar to how tiers are awarded) from April 1st. Assume EI will follow suit, if so expect a big clear-out of EI silver if an annual spend of €9k (£7.5k) is required.

    Tier

    Tier Point threshold

    Blue

    None

    Bronze

    3,500

    Silver

    7,500

    Gold

    20,000

9K is a lot for just silver and I would think a lot of business travellers will fall down the tiers fairly fast if they go this route.
