Don't forget the biggest industrial production.

For context the post I replied to was replying to a post that would appear to believe there was only one legit POV.

First they came for the socialists...

I try to check in with the Deepstate map (which is a pro-Ukraine source) regularly looking at the frontline changes but most days it's all Russian gains. For once today there's a Ukraine gain just south of Pokrovsk but it's literally only a few meters.

What a difference it would be to be able to report on daily gains for Ukraine.

Yes "facts" are good - your curation of them here has always been the problem.

You tend to toss the odd spoiler in there too of course, for the unwary.

I am sure that idiom has lost something in translation!

I think your statistics on how much shít Russia fires into Ukraine's airspace are not evidence of a home grown achievement of Russian "industrial production". They are a testament to the helping hands Russia has gotten from China and Iran, and the failure of the Western countries sanctions to cut off the supplies of their own tools, machinery and parts to the Russian MIC.

Your own graphic also proves the point I made to you earlier, talk of Russia "responding" to Ukraine's actions with some attack or other is nonsense - the scale and destructiveness of their air war on Ukraine is just dictated by what is on hand to fire.

Cappy has his moments, but I wouldn’t call him “excellent.” There have been one or two videos he’s done where I’m pulling my hair out, putting out incorrect information to his very large audience.

and? It is still not how war of attrition is won.

Also, how much bigger are we talking about and most importantly, for how long?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,598 ✭✭✭Deub

I honestly would have liked to but people like you make it impossible and there are dozens of you.

    Sorry, is it sarcasm ?

Talking about good faith after what you wrote about 2014 event in Ukraine seems strange.

It may be worth re-iteration for anyone casually following threads like this, that the main goal of Russian propaganda in this conflict is to try to dissolve Western support for Ukraine.

So either by design or influence you’ll get posts designed to cast doubt on whether it’s even right to support Ukraine, or in some cases curated posts about Russian advances designed to temper / remove hopes for a Ukrainian victory.

As a student of history and warfare I feel that it is important to remind any casual reader that Total War like what we are experiencing here is not as clear-cut as where the front line is drawn. If that had been the case the Russians should have been counted as defeated in 1942 and should have just surrendered to Hitler. But they didn’t. They got supplied by the Western allies and wore the Nazi War-Machine out. The Soviets out-lasted the Nazis thanks to a maintained supply chain and letting their enemy out stretch itself into territory it was not familiar with.

Now in 2024 the roles are reversed. The Russians have inherited the war machine of the dying days of the Soviet Union, but they have not inherited their War-time allies. Those allies went to their opponent, who this time are the victim of a broken treaty and a brutal war of annihilation.

The Russians now creep across the Donbass, without armor, limited kit and training. They creep ahead while making every square meter a grim sight of human tragedy made of their own people. They lose 1000s a day and are really only advancing because they are making the AFU exhaust their magazines on the unfortunate conscripts that the Russians push forward. You run out of rounds, and have to pull back to the next supply line. Russians declare another town taken for their propagandists to celebrate about…but what has happened? They have gained the gutted out remains of a small Ukrainian hamlet, but at an insane human cost to themselves.

It’s easy to look at something like that out of context, and be told about “facts” to get the impression that Ukraine face only defeat. But that ignores everything else that goes into a conflict like this. Ukraine have emerged as a cunning and resourceful opponent to the Russians, and the conflict itself has strengthened a sense of national identity that they had struggled with before. Despite their difficulties they want to fight for their homes and their families. Despite the moral bankruptcy that infects the US at times like this, Europe remains united in this task. Just like the Soviets in 1942, Ukraine faces a creeping frontline into their land, but they still have the means to outlast their enemy.

So remember, when you see “facts” or curated battlefield updates exclusively depicting Russian gains, what you are seeing is a product of the Russians themselves. They fear that they might not outlast the Ukrainians, and so they have taken to trying to win this fight in your mind. If enough people like you stop supporting the Ukrainians, then maybe just maybe they can get out of this with a win. It is on you to not let Moscow occupy your mind either.

According to Germany's defense minister "Russia produces as much weapons and ammunition in three months as the entire EU does in one year,"

How long depends but having an endless supply of cheap energy, metals and a now ramped up state run industry helps them to make make an artillery shell nearly 7 times cheaper.

Maybe certain countries overestimated themselves and underestimated the other side.

According to the US Deputy Secretary of State Kurt Campbell.

"Over the past two years, we've seen the Russian armed forces rebuild with a speed and determination that, frankly, amazes us," Campbell said.

He added that Washington was also surprised by the Russian side's ability to replace lost tanks, missiles and drones.

He emphasized: "All this is alarming."

He revealed that the United States "has shared this concern with its allies in Europe who share this view."

"if you get on the wrong train, get off at the nearest station, the longer it takes you to get off, the more expensive the return trip will be."

Alarm bells over the Russian supposed force went off a long time ago.

Many thought with their supposed massive army that this would be wrapped up very quickly.

Yet here we are three of years later and they are relying on China, Iran and of all countries North Korea.

The US would be happy for this war to go on for another 5 years imo. Russia would be on its knees.

They just lost Syria and are relying on Iran and North Korea for supplies. They are trying to advance without any armored support these days.

Your telegram posts on russian gains also leave out the human cost of those marginal advances and the devastation caused to the newly occupied land

lol. scream for "good faith" from somebody parroting kremlin propoganda and excusing russo-fascism at every turn? What is this, sarcasm?

It’s only a pin hole leak. Be fine.

The Va… sorry, Russian expansionist, raping, war crime supporters (really, they AND boards.ie prefer the longer description?) cannot escape the fact the mighty Russian army cannot sweep across Ukraine. They’ll spout BS like Russia is fighting NATO (LOL).

Their economy and toilet paper Ruble is in the sewer, but they still shill their government, because if they don’t they’ll find a rusty rifle in their mitts and a shove in the back. Orwell Road is far nicer than the Donbas plains. 🥶

Spot on and know we know the name

    Operation Matrioska

part of a larger Russian disinformation warfare strategy known as “Operation Matryoshka”. This campaign inundates social media platforms and journalists with fabricated narratives designed to cast Ukraine and any of its allies in an unfavourable light, according to the Atlantic Council’s Digital Forensic Research Lab (DFRLab).

The goal, say DFRLab researchers, is to flood Telegram, social media, and journalists’ inboxes with false stories that usually paint NATO countries and Ukraine in a bad light, waste reporters’ time, and make people distrust news outlets more broadly. “

Yep that summarises the gopnik strategy seen here

And they do get their little wins. They must have been pissing themselves laughing on Orwell rd when they got the word Vatnik banned as a descriptor.

D'you mean if you were in charge, you'd relocate all those Ukranian troops currently in Russian, back into a nicely defined zone in Ukraine where Russia could more conveniently target them with their FAB500s ?

The Kursk offensive was - and still is - a strategic success for Ukraine. They forced the Russians to deploy untrained reserves, initially, then better trained forces, and now their precious NK supply of fresh meat into a battle for control of Russian territory. Russian bombs are now being used to destroy Russian infrastructure in Russia, and displaced Russians are asking why their Russia homes and businesses are being levelled while they themselves are expected to sleep on a cold mattress with a few worthless roubles as a handout.

It's far more logical to exploit that front in the war than to send those troops to die in the Donbas while they try to dig trenches that'll be overrun in a couple of weeks.

Lots of confusion about Syria, best maybe to wait and see what happens.

Yasar Guler - Turkish defense minister this morning.

Russia has not withdrawn all its military units from Syria and is unlikely to leave the region in the near future.Turkey is ready to assist Russia in its work with units in Syria, but has not yet received a request to do so.

They are also trying to get sanctions lifted along with others on that bank which is messing supply up.

Turkey has requested removal from U.S. sanctions targeting Gazprombank, arguing that these measures jeopardize the country's energy security. Turkish officials emphasize that the sanctions hinder payments for Russian natural gas, which is crucial for Turkey’s industries and winter energy needs. The Turkish Energy Minister compared this situation to prior exemptions granted during U.S. sanctions on Iran, urging a similar solution.

🤷‍♂️ I guess some positions and beliefs are so far apart there is no common ground at all. But in my opinion large parts of this thread are so far over in lala land even perfectly reasonable positions that are being discussed elsewhere are being only barked at here. This includes the events of 2014. You only need to look back at mainstream news coverage back then.

In fact literally everything that the Kremlin ever said is called Kremlin propaganda and immediately dismissed by the majority on this thread. But it's totally bonkers to beleive that literally everything becomes a lie just by virtue of being said by the Kremlin. It's like if the Kremlin said tomorrow the sky was blue you'd say it's a lie. This is like little children stuff and it makes no sense whatsoever. How can anyone debate with that sort of mindset? Surely you must realise this? I assume we're all adults here, no?

No, just put in google, it was only a months ago.

    One from March this year.

CNN - "Russia is producing about 250,000 artillery munitions per month, or about 3 million a year, according to NATO intelligence estimates of Russian defense production shared with CNN, as well as sources familiar with Western efforts to arm Ukraine. Collectively, the US and Europe have the capacity to generate only about 1.2 million munitions annually to send to Kyiv, a senior European intelligence official told CNN."

Japan and Korea have exemptions for buying from gazprom, which is essentially aiding and abetting but no talk about that in US media.

When the Russians left Afghanistan, the Afghans slammed the door shut behind them, with the instruction's " F*ck off, and don't come back…ever! The US are welcome back any time by the Afghans. (not the Taliban, of course)

So you expect others to post links that you can't?
