Unacceptable noise levels from upstairs neighbour - wood floors!

    hi folks,

I am an owner occupier in an apartment complex built circa 2002.

My upstairs neighbour has wood floors so obviously can hear him plodding about throughout the day & night - he is retired so always at home!
Anyway I can put up with the noise levels during the day or say bearable as I have music or on calls if WFH.

So here is the issue, I go to bed around 11pm but he’s routine has changed recently where I can hear him walking around and dropping stuff till midnight or 1am.

This is now seriously affecting my sleep to the point where I get restless and annoyed and end up been awake for hours longer than I should be.

I’ve spoken to him in the past about general things and he seems neighbourly enough so wondering what is the best approach to tackle the issue on a softly soft basic.

Am thinking of 2 options here -

    1. Put a note in the postbox to kindly ask if he could remove his shoes if up late past 11pm.
    2. Call to the door for a ‘word’ which I would rather avoid.

Any feedback on the above would be appreciated.

    TIA
