Is the image different to one on box ie Image is Vix 6.6.005??? Dont update too quickly. Im still on 6.3.and 6.4

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 884 ✭✭✭peking97

No everything else on Ch 46 was fine. Can't explain it at all!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 884 ✭✭✭peking97

No. Both images are/were the same. Vix 6.6.005. I know it's unlikely but I wonder is it possible that something related to that channel only got corrupted and re-flashing the same image restored normal ops.

Is anyones syncing off, as in when someone is talking the sound is not matching with their lips?

How do I fix this? It just started doing it a few days ago. I restarted the box but it's still doing it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,946 ✭✭✭greasepalm

Rebooting by powering off at rear or remote.

What source is giving issues , sat , terrestrial or iptv ?

Both Sat and Terrestial were doing it. Image openvix 6.4

When that happened to me i had to restart my tv to cure it.

I am only on 6.3 here

Just picked up a zgemma h7s, had an edision os3 for a good few years so fairly familiar with the setup of E2 boxes. Any recommendations for which images work best on this box?

I see OpenATV setup instructions above, I stuck with OpenATV most of the time on the edision but did try out OpenVix too which is also mentioned in recent posts. Any others to consider or recommend?

Finally, one of the reasons I'm getting back to a combo box is to use the box remotely on a smart TV elsewhere in the house, I'm thinking of just using the Smart IPTV app on the TV as the client for this but open to other suggestions as to the best setup for this.

I have a bouquet called Living Room TV in my list of bouquets that I use as my default bouquet, its a mix of Saorview and freesat, all the channel 4 channels like film4 etc changed frequency recently. Autobouquetmaker brought them back in all the other "default" bouquets (the ones that the box creates itself). How can I get it to fix them in my Living Room TV bouquet aswell?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,946 ✭✭✭greasepalm

Because you made up your own special Bouquet that does not get fixed you will have to fix it yourself by deleting and moving channels over to it..

Thought that was it but its a bit strange isnt it? Why doesnt it just fix he channel there aswell?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,946 ✭✭✭greasepalm

It is not meant to as its your special mixed bouquet is why its left untouched.

I never bothered to make my own with channel movement going on.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,156 ✭✭✭✭Thargor

Sorry to be annoying you with a load of stupid questions again but how does that work? You switch bouquets when you want to go between Saorview/Sat?

Is there any way to make a list thats kind of like favourites but autobouquet would fix it when you run it? Id upgrade my parents tomorrow if there was a way to do this…

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,946 ✭✭✭greasepalm

I just press the arrow button under the OK button and green to move from sat to terrestrial or vice versa and press ok to confirm and move down the list and click on channel.

I just use the ordinary bouquets and choose from there.

Sorry, a little late to this, but I've been using a mechanical 2.5" drive in my H7S for years (at least 4) with zero issues. H7S is in constant use, lots of recordings etc. It's our main TV box, and has acted as a media/recording server for other devices.

With the prices of SSD's. I'd probably go down that route if I was setting things up again today, but there is certainly nothing wrong with using a mechanical drive either. (In fact, this is probably best case scenario for a mechanical drive - a non-boot device with most of the reads/writes being sequential).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,946 ✭✭✭greasepalm

I think i upgraded from mechanical to a 1TB SSD internal.

All boxes are networked each with their own drive and Et8000 has 1 internal and 1 external.

I dont need to keep all my recordings with access to streaming services.

Mechanical is fine if you have it installed internally. I think the older version of the H7s had full internal space for the disc. But the newer model has a slot in concept going where the hard disc actually sticks out the back a bit. That slot is very tight and the hard disc has tight contact with the metal case and causes quite some noise from vibration.

My H7s is in the bedroom and I found that noise so bad it was an absolute nono. Like middle of the night all is down and dark and you're fast asleep next thing the disc spins up for some internal job say EPG download or whatever it would actually wake you up.

@schorpio you don't say which version of the h7s you are using???

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,326 ✭✭✭Schorpio

The clue is in the age!! It's the older type without the slot, so I had to mount the drive internally.

I can't comment on the slot fit (though in theory it should be fine because 2.5" SSD cases are supposed to be identical to their mechanical counterparts), but I can see how it might impact noise.

I was more commenting on the PSU side of things - my H7S has been powering an (internal) mechanical disk for years without issue. I've also never been able to hear the drive either, but your mileage may vary on that front, depending on the drive you use.

You may have managed to hammer a mechanical drive in there , lord knows how , but you were never supposed too.

Mechanical drives have a circuit board on one side that is never supposed to be in open air as it were , so should never be used in such a slot.

It was always intended for SSD's , which make no noise.

Query does anybody use Cacheflush or Power Timers on the H7s as the odd occasion box freezes up and never found the issue.

Off and on switch at rear and box is well vented

Where is currently the best place to buy the H7s that comes with most of the work done for ya - as in openvix set up.

I know will have to set up saorview for my area.

    Satcity E199.45

WOS in UK you will get hit with customs tax

Unsure on setup as need to ask them

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,600 ✭✭✭✭dxhound2005

WOS export it at £82.50. They charge £1 extra to load it with a version of Enigma 2.

    https://www.world-of-satellite.co.uk/zgemma-h7s

There will be Irish VAT at 23% charged on that and also charged on the postage and packing amount. Plus the delivery company collecting that for the Revenue will have their own admin fee. And there is the exchange rate to consider. Revenue keep the same exchange rate for a full month at a time, and it is shown on their website.

Unless the item is valued at above €150 there is no Customs Duty. Duty does not apply to postage and packing. And I think that satellite receivers are zero rated for Duty anyway.

It could be. Not sure one might think HDMI would be 'smart' enough to overcome obvious misconfig, maybe not. Can you get at it with openwebif?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 530 ✭✭✭cathy427

Thanks. Just in case people dont spot it - That's the H8 rather than the h7s.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,292 ✭✭✭CalamariFritti

Good question. Assuming ethernet is enabled on the h7s it will act like any DHCP client upon boot. So I guess you'll have to make your laptop a DHPC host/server of sorts. Or else is there a router in the house? Could you connect it to that? Even temporarily? The router network overview will tell you what IP it was assigned and then openwebif should work from there.

Just a blank screen is it? Not reacting at all to menu or setup buttons anything?

What have you connected it to? SAT and Saorview? How does it behave when you disconnect those?

Should at least get access to menu and setup screens. Is there an HDMI auto setting?

Since you now have openwebif access anything in the logs? /home/root/logs
