      And as I put in another thread it's unavoidable, it's 24/7 on all media, it's prominently displayed in every post office and newsagents in the country. Then the beauty of it all is they actually pause the childrens movie every Saturday evening on RTÉ1 to show the Lotto Draw.

      Duffy is right in this case.

      Alcohol abuse takes its toll over Christmas, often ending up in brawling and violence in the early hours of these “big party nights”.

      Alcohol plays a huge role in domestic abuse also.

      Shameful to say a close neighbour of mine was put into hospital by his own brother on Christmas night last year - fuelled by brandy, sherry and whiskey

      It’s worse at Christmas. Crazy amounts of drinking goes on.
