Changed on Monday I think. I don't know whether they're just covering themselves or it is the reality!?!

They sent me an email regarding a non-Xmas delivery (thankfully!) that Storm Darragh had impacted on delivery timelines. Tbh, could be flooding or something in the UK that impacted a distribution centre, who knows.

There was no sailing in or out of Holyhead over the weekend due to storm damage, this could impact delivery dates

Amazon have gone to the dogs with their delivery timelines. Its 2 weeks to Christmas. If they can't deliver orders now by Christmas then why would you buy from them? Most other online retailers can deliver still.

In general I have noticed that Amazon do push out delivery dates and then deliver ahead of schedule. Seems like they are trying to cover themselves rather than give accurate timelines.

I am just this minute off chat with amazon. Ordering a phone and it says 28th Dec. They are flagging it for quick despatch. Reading above though, maybe the ferries being knackered is causing a backlog at the port which will have to be cleared. MMMMM Not anybodies fault though.

"They are flagging it for quick despatch". He 100% said that to get you off the chat, there is no such thing unless you have Prime.

I received a notification yesterday about stuff I'd ordered from Amazon was going to be delayed, but it was delivered a few minutes ago!

I wouldn't order anything else from Amazon now unless its not needed until after Christmas.

It's not just Amazon, I sent parcels on Monday to UK via UPS and on checking the delivery status last night on the UPS website it said delayed due to severe weather.

This is a pain where they give you a date and then deliver on a different date. On the delivery feedback form there is no option to complain of early delivery. Amazon had a very good delivery operation, but now they are losing the plot. Perhaps Amazon.ie will help when it starts.

totally agree. some people arrange to be around for the expected delivery date…..only to find it delivered on a completely different date. absolute pain in the backside

I would say they are covering themselves. A lot of people will have ordered stuff last week

This is all on the way to a closed port

If they try to bring it into belfast it will need to clear customs again and add another delay.

All the stuff they sent is sitting there

All the stuff they're sending will go to the back of the q.

Assuming it all gets out on the one day that will cause a backlog when it all arrives in to be sorted.

24 hours is a long time in logisitics. never mind beyond that !!

In what way will it have additional customs if it comes through Belfast?

Stena adventurer which goes Dublin to Holyhead is currently heading for Fishguard. It is massive and will hoover everything up. This will be sorted quickly.

How are they supposed to get deliveries when the port, where the vast majority of imports to Ireland transit, sustained damage in the storm. Do you want everything flown in?

This is an act of nature that's going to happen again and again so your crap for Christmas will be delayed again but actual important products that we need won't be delivered either, we should start stocking up on essentials but we rarely learn from past experiences and never invest enough.

I don’t recall ever seeing Christmas deliveries end so early before Christmas on Amazon - while thankfully I’ve pretty much purchased what I needed for presents etc it seems very early to be ending the Christmas “season” - Shirley they will lose out significantly on Christmas trade? Then again, maybe Black Friday is the new Christmas shopping period - I reckon most have bought what they needed at this stage but lastminute.comers will be disappointed

I have orders not Amazon, using DPD that have been stuck in Germany for days. Dispatched 2/12 and 6/12 and both right now in the same location in Germany. Assume logistics throughout Europe has been impacted big time this last week since the storm.

Placed an order on the 3rd which is due for delivery today but it appeared last night as not having even been dispatched. Kids Placed an amazon Italy order which is here before the Uk order.

I doubt one ship going to Fishguard instead of Holyhead (where I'd assume there's already a decent amount of Amazon trailers already with previously dispatched orders) won't speed up deliveries. I'm fairly sure Amazon don't use Fishguard for their trailers so they'd need to pull them from Holyhead to Fishguard and send new trailers there, too. I do think deliveries will be sorted fairly quickly once Holyhead doesn't need any major repairs

It will have to be custom checked again which will cause a delay

Stuff ordered last week and had an original expected delivery date of 10th Dec has been updated to say "Now Expected 23rd December".

Hardly instills confidence that they will arrive before the new year. I think I'll cancel them and look elsewhere.

The sooner we get an amazon.ie serviced from this island the better.

I doubt one ship will clear the backlog.

It's a longer journey time too.

Fishguard mightn't have capacity either for many extra ferries and I doubt they will all be suited to the ramps.

Shows how the slightest thing can disrupt an island.

I looked at some items last night and anything sold and sent by Amazon had a delivery date of the 16th while anything sent on behalf of a 3rd party had a 2 week delivery date. Amazon are probably prioritising their own stock first.
