Does anybody know somewhere in Ireland that does this?

I'm looking to have this fitted with possibly a reverse camera aswell.

I'm in various fb groups for my model of car and lots seem to have it done but they are all UK based.

    Anywhere in Ireland?!

I'm based in the west but will travel anywhere.

    Thanks!

Ps,car Is MK 1 Peugeot RCZ

Search ‘Carplay’ on Instagram. Plenty of people doing it. Would help to share the make & model of your car

    Ah yes!

    Edited OP now.

I'm not on Instagram but will Google.

From what i understand you need somebody who knows what theyre doing to keep all the steering controls working.

Have found a few places but some look a bit dodgy, others saying they can keep steering wheel controls in "most" cases. That wouldn't fill me with confidence.

    Anybody have recommendations?!

If you are on the West Coast - AEC - Auto Electrical Concepts in Galway would be a winner.

Yeah grand. No complaints really. They’ve a few different options I believe. It was a while ago since I last had one of their radios. I do often buy cars that have their Android radios installed as well

Had Android Auto installed into my car by these guys last year and they did front parking sensors for a friend's car at the same time. No issues with either and very nice guys to deal with.

    OK

The unit provided is a cheap Chinese unit (in fairness they are upfront about this) You can buy them for about 60e.

I wasn't confident fitting it so payed for that basically. Had some issues afterwards and support (from the 1st guy over a few days was very frustrating) Eventually a guy with a better understanding of the issue I had called me (rather than texting over and back) He couldn't resolve it fully so said to call in which was fair enough. Its a 500km return journey for me so I didn't avail of it.I eventually sorted it myself.

The unit is patchy as you'd expect from a cheap piece of kit.Its not as good quality as the OEM radio set up and simple buttons are now hidden behind menus on a screen

All in all I wouldn't be fitting these to a newer car.Id be going with Kenwood or one of the big names.

On the plus side its cool playing vids, youtube etc but really how often are you going to use these things? Might depend on your age etc.

Would I recommend the company? I suppose so,they were upfront about the unit and friendly.Support definitely could be better.

The one I got from Radiomasters is still working fine for me in my (2012) A7. Very occasionally (I'm taking 2/3 times over the last 7/8 months) the screen "flickers" for a second as if there's some sort of interference but that's possible I guess given how many connected devices and cars are in the airwaves now.

I use it primarily for Google navigation, Spotify and the Irish Radioplayer app. Works perfectly for all 3 but the bit of UI clunkiness comes from these things (and Android Auto in general to be fair) being designed for a touchscreen rather than used via buttons and selectors (in my case the factor Audi MMI system). Still, once you get used to it it's easy enough.

Still very happy with it overall.

I was considering getting the one from radio masters just for the support side of things, but I couldn't justify paying €200 for one I could buy off AliExpress for €70/80 (or at least a similar spec one)

I ended up buying one off AliExpress for €180 shipped from Spain, meant to be here next week. We'll see if it was a good move or not!

I think we only want it for Android Auto, as opposed to using it as it's own device (I don't think I'm bothered getting it it's own sim card) but we'll see how it goes when I have it here.

Not super worried about installing the radio itself, but making sure the steering wheel controls still work etc will probably be the more difficult part. I'm more concerned about installing the external mic (which I presume is needed). Getting the reverse camera installed would be a nice to have too, but I'm not sure if I'm bothered doing the cable run from the front to the back (I might try out the wireless ones)

I have a Android Auto external screen thing on our previous car I bought for €25 and it's way better than I thought it would be, wireless Android Auto, built in fm transmitter to connect to the car. The screen is pretty poor quality compared to a phone or a tablet but it's actually pretty usable. It's a decent very low effort solution.

I can hotspot from my phone to do all of the above same as yourself. However if I need to make calls I have to be connected by Bluetooth. I can't hotspot and Bluetooth at the same time.

I use maps,Spotify etc but it's all just mirrored from my phone through Bluetooth.

Its disappointing because id loke to use the apps and features on the actual unit.
