If the tracking number starts with "U" then it doesn't

What's up with An Post tracking? I received text from them about a parcel being delivered tomorrow and can find the parcel on other parcel trackers as having been sorted but An Post website claims they have no information on the item.

Has Fastway given up delivering Aliexpress packages?

The last couple were delivered by An Post.

    Hi,

    Bit of confusion here.

Expecting a parcel from An Post and got text yesterday saying it would be in today's post.

    Never arrived.

Checked the tracking on the An Post website today and it stated it has been sorted this morning.

What could be going on here?

The top looks like the item was scanned on its way to the correct delivery office. There will be another scan when its out for delivery.

Wake me up when it's all over.

It was sent to the wrong sorting office. Will be resent to the right one from there.

How is there confusion with something stated as clearly as that?

I'm guessing the OP made the same mistake I have, believing the Amazon Your Orders page.

I've had exactly the same with Amazon saying the item is out for delivery and An Post saying its at the wrong delivery office.

At some stage Amazon normally apologise and say the item is delayed.

Wake me up when it's all over.

My parcel is not even coming from Amazon but from a shop in Donegal and they've sent it to the wrong delivery office. Was supposed to arrive on Friday and the last update is from Saturday when it was found in the wrong office. No updates since other than that it's sorted.

Thought it would arrive today but…

Your screenshot says An Post only first scanned it yesterday, sent it to the wrong sorting office overnight and once realized this morning was rerouted back a few hours later. The seller only registered the parcel after 6pm on Friday so there's no way it was going to arrive Friday. It was probably only dropped off Saturday.

Edit: Whoops, mixed up users, sorry!

    Thanks,

Also I should mention that I also received a text message from An Post yesterday saying my package would be delivered on the next working day, i.e. today. But as I said in my OP I am still waiting.

Hope I'm not causing more mixups here but in my case, I ordered on Wednesday and the first tracking update is from Thursday. An Post actually sent me an email on Friday saying the parcel would arrive the next working day. Well, no updates since around 4 am Saturday morning. It's been sitting somewhere in Fonthill now for three days with no progress.

Edit: The tracking has been updated to "we have your item and will process it for delivery" but no mention where it is. Never fails to be funny how "we have your item" always sounds like an extortion attempt. "We know where you live…" 🤣

After going through two rounds of An Post web chat (the chat won't show someone has answered you if you don't click on the window after wait time is over and it disconnects you after two seconds of inactivity), here's an answer from An Post:

"This item seems to have been delayed in the Mail Centre for the last few days. This delay occurred due to high mail volumes in our network at this time. The item has just been sorted for your local area and should be on delivery tomorrow. Apologies for any inconvenience caused by the delay experienced."

Don't know if everyone is getting the same reply at the moment since the queue was moving quite fast. "High mail volumes" apparently also means your mail can be routed anywhere randomly. Oh well… remains to be seen if it will be here tomorrow.

I was told exactly the same. The next day, they said it was on its way to my local delivery office and would be delivered tomorrow. It wasn't. It sat in the Dublin mail centre for an entire week.

I figured it was copy-pasted to everyone. Really just builds your confidence in the way they handle things, doesn't it? The way this is going I might just reconsider my plans on doing most of the Christmas shopping online. Yup, haven't even had time yet to get to it so… 😬 Gift cards for the whole lot I guess.

An Post is all over the place at the moment, as are the other couriers. An Post late with Amazon deliveries, an export to Germany hasn't moved since the drop off at the PO since Monday.

Is An Post still struggling with deliveries or should I be worried? A parcel posted in Paris, France supposedly has left France on January 3rd but no sign of it since. Have contacted the sender who said they are "keeping their fingers crossed" for it to appear soon but apparently they're not too keen on contacting La Poste/Colissimo yet. I guess contacting An Post wouldn't help either since all they will tell me is that they cannot help me because the parcel hasn't been scanned.

An Post delivery seems fine. Just got a delivery from Amazon.de that is a week early. Only issue I've had recently is that either An Post or Amazon aren't updating the tracking system. Wasn't expecting anything today.

Wake me up when it's all over.

Am based in Dublin, and a package posted from ROI has been sitting since Friday morning in the "Dublin Parcel Hub" on tracking. Which seems a long time given it is now Monday lunchtime.

Tracking will not be updated until the item arrives at it's destination and scanned

Allowing for the weather conditions last week alot of deliveries did not take place

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 295 ✭✭ShayNanigan

This is true. An Post Facebook post about improving weather conditions and delays is filled with comments where people are asking after their delayed parcels. It seems they are absolutely swamped with mail that did not get delivered before Christmas and mail that was delayed because of the weather conditions.

Hopefully all of us will get ours eventually!

Maybe that was it, arrived today so all good in the end.
