First trip to OT for the kids and they had a great time. Plenty of action as well.

Ugarte, Mazraoui, Hojlund and Mount all stood out. Ugarte really as the manager's man on the pitch, it was clear that he has a clear understanding of what Amorim wants and was trying to push it with the other players. Mazraoui is just class, different level. Was delighted for Hojlund, he really does work his socks off. Mounts movement was quite good, but it was made to look very good by the lack of movement in general... he shouldn't be the only one moving.

Was nice to see Malacia back but himself and Anthony aren't United players. I can't see Bruno or Rashford working in this system if Amorim holds true to his beliefs.

It could have very easily been an awful draw. We're still extremely fragile but you can definitely see the outline of a good plan there.

We are one real quality player who can score/create across the front 3, and one quality LWB away, from being a very good team under this manager.

Hopefully Hojlund can kick on from this, has the potential but it's been too stop start in his united career so far.

That Rasmus goal just keeps getting better and better every time you watch it.

I think Rashford could do well in the position Garnacho has been playing - I am hoping we see him there vs Everton on Sunday.

Will certainly be interesting to see who Amorim picks - he has mentioned that after playing you can't train properly for two days (!!) so in order to properly coach the players into what he wants, he needs to rotate the team so that different players get proper training time vs playing time. My hope is that he will pick his battles on rotation - go strong vs Eveton and Arsenal, rotate a bit vs Forest, VP, strong vs City - and then we have Spurs in the cup which could go either way - rotate cause its not league, go strong cause its a trophy and euro qualification chance. But even if we got past Spurs, we possibly still have Arsenal/Liverpool (and Newcastle) to worry about after that so not like we'd be favourites.

Onana, Mazraoui, De Ligt, Shaw, Amad, Dalot, Ugarte, Casemiro, Rashford, Bruno, Hojlund - that is what I would like to see vs Everton. Maybe Mount for Bruno but I think it will be Bruno cause… Bruno, and also to manage Mounts reintroduction a bit. Apparently Maguire will be back available so maybe him for De Ligt if he is good to start.

I think Malacia deserves a bit of leeway at the moment until we see can he get back to full fitness. Mount will have a big part to play under Amorim if he stays fit. I agree about Bruno and Rashford, neither seem the type of player to be able to follow defined tactics, especially off the ball. Mazraoui is an absolute bargain and very consistent. Garnacho is still a big frustration. You would hope he is being spoken to about his reluctance to lay the ball off to team mates in better positions.

They have they bug now…and great for them to see a win and 5 goals

Would agree with you on Malacia and Anthony… not Utd standard and I cant see either Rashford or Bruno working in a 343…. I hope he gives Amad and Garnacho the time to develop into inside forwards [ i don't think it will take them long… both young and energetic ]. Mount will also be very important to the system if he can stay fit. IMO an athletic ball playing middle of the park player to rotate with Mainoo & Ugarte needs to be top of the list. We have seen now that out of Ugarte, Casemiro, Bruno and Eriksen only Ugarte is of the standard required to play in a middle 2

Would like to see us try get a signing or two in january.
LWB and CM would be high on my list and you could try make a play for Davies and there is talk of City going for wharton in January and it would be a shame to not try for him, imo.

But I can't see how we could afford anyone - the recent ticket price thing would indicate (imo) that we are extremely worried about PSR so I can't see how we can push for a big signing while at the same time hammering fans for a fraction of the money that would be needed.

And I can't see who we could or would sell in January that could then release the funds we would need.

Davies and Wharton would be two brilliant signings. I think Wharton will be one of the best middle of the park players in England in another season or two

I'm in the minority here but I think long term what's better for the club is for the manager to work with what he has got for remainder of the season. Yes some players are not good enough but that's what his job is, it's to coach players and get more from them than eth has got. If the only solution every season is to change then manger and buy more players we are never going to build anything.

I think he has shown he can and will do that, yes he will make signings in the summer but only after assessing what he needs and who will work with him and who can't be improved on.

The main players that can't be coached better to the system in my opinion are also the players that are going to be impossible to ship out... Cas, eriksen, Rashford, Antony and probably a couple of others. They are not going anywhere in January and some won't go in summer apart from the ones with expiring contracts.

This is it, look at what Emery did at Villa and Howe at Newcastle. The expectation should be improve what's there before spending 200m on players who may or may not work out.

Sign players in positions where it's really needed. Get the better players playing back to the level they've shown before and there shouldn't be a problem.

Casemiro and Eriksens better days may be behind them but both could fit into any system in the sense that they're very intelligent experienced players.

I'm not sure what they've done to deserve being lumped in with players like Anthony.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 968 ✭✭✭jayo44

They definitly are not lumped with Antony. I agree with you bit could adjust to any system but their age profile I can't see them fitting into this team long term but for different reasons than Antony. But yeah I do agree they don't deserve to be compared to Antony I wasn't doing that.

I loved that he hassled the keeper for Garnacho's opener, forcing the mistake and creating the opportunity. I think Rasmus will shine this season under Amorim.

Would he of got the chance to do that in the league I don't think so but it was great to see the hunger. He looked so pissed off that nacho got the goal I love that haha.

That’s it. We need to see goals from him in the league and against better opposition in Europe. Did very well last night of course and that second goal was beautiful but you don’t get to do that as easy against top level defenders either. He has a very likeable personality and that stand will stand to him. Hopefully he has the right manager now to help him kick on from here.

This video on the other hand.. not just because it’s Rashford, I’d feel the same way about anyone else doing the same, (it’s been said in some comments that it’s common behaviour which is news to me) shows a lack of decency and respect for others:

The guy is holding his hand out for the second glove and you throw it on the floor for him to pick up. You can do as much PR as you like but if this is how you treat people, don’t expect everyone to rally around you.

When the great actor David Niven died in 1983 the biggest wreath at his funeral came from the porters in Heathrow, they said he made them feel like kings. Rashford needs a lesson in humility!

There'll be a video released over the weekend of him feeding kids now.

If you look at Amorim in that video,it looks like he saw Rashford throwing at least one of the gloves on the ground.

Would not be surprised if Rashford gets called into the managers office for a wee chat.

Rashford is 27. He isn't good enough. Under Fergie, he'd be a welbeck option if even.

I think people forget he was the club's top scorer last season. His first season in a new country, new league, in a team which seemed determined not to set him up with chances to score, he still ended up the clubs top scorer. He was not a failure. I've always been hugely impressed by the guy's media appearances - for a young guy he is incredibly confident when talking to the media for a striker in a United team criticised for not scoring goals. A striker needs that basic level of arrogance and he appears to have it.

The guys conversion rate (10 PL goals from just 38 shots last season) is elite. Better than 1 in 4. Vastly better than Garnacho. If the team actually start setting up chances for our best finisher (Hojlund), maybe the goals and the wins will follow.

Well said and nail on the head. It will always be the same he could score 30 goals this year and maybe have a quiet game against coupe of the top teams and people will say, he doesn't turn up in the big games. It's lazy analysis and band wagon thinking.

The range of goals was impressive. There is a bit of Lewandowski about him. From the sharpness to react quickly to a loose ball, to the drive to burst into the six yard box for a tap in to the ability to take the ball in, run at the opposition and make his own goals.

Who was the last bargain basement signing we bought that had a huge influence? I'm struggling to think of anyone since Park.

Vidic came few months after park. Cost 7m or so what a bargain.

In that season which I think is the year before the glazers took over we signed park, Vidic and Evra for a combined total of less than 15m pound.

    Interesting piece on the stadium.

I think we are going to get a brand new stadium, based largely on RAs comments in one of his first interviews when he specifically mentioned a new stadium.

While I understand and accept the historical elements, the reality is an additional 30k spectators every home game along with the opportunity to host other events and gigs would be a huge money spinner.
