Might be one for bit discussion and thoughts.

What is your all time favorite world championship fight? Has to be either either WBA/WBC/IBF or WBO, or a unified/combination of these.

Mine is Holyfield/Bowe 1992 “unified” HW championship bout.

Reasons: two undefeated HWs in their prime going toe to toe. It had everything. Pace, volume, speed, power, fitness. It was ridiculously clean, so very technical, and the punching was beautiful looking. Even the sound of the punches was beautiful. It also had one greatest championship rds ever.. rd 10

I thought the second fight was even better and then the third Bowe was amazing. Part of me thought that throughout either one would have been sparked by Lewis in as open a fight but then Lewis would have struggled with that pace and lack of room to get the big shots away. Bowe for me is a bit of an enigma. Never really know how good he was and he vanished at maybe not even 30. There were so many more great fights in him but anything after Golota is an afterthought

Nothing for me trumps fight 1

Previously I would have picked prime Bowe to beat prime Lewis 6/10 fights; thinking his inside game was the key. Now, and recently I’d back Lewis very confidently 8/10 fights.

Bowe is not some defensive type fighter. Very easily hit, perfect height/range for Lewis, and I can’t see Bowe taking Lewis’ power, nor Bowe himself having kinda one shot power (like the McCall and Rahman shots) that did the trick.

Any inside work I don’t see hurting or bothering Lewis too much, and Lewis could work heavy shots in close himself.

I can’t say I disagree but at the same time watching Bowe Holyfield you’d expect that Lewis could and would take out Holyfield too and that didn’t happen.
if Lewis didn’t get a big shot off then the question for me would be would he be able to take the volume. Bowe was very comfortable up close and threw loads.
I’m just not sure Bowe really fancied it himself and that’s the key for me
