Watched the u21 game on clubber, really like the look of Matthew Kelliher, he might be one to offer something with Kilkenny, he is a big man and can bag a score. Good boro team.

Cillian Hackett looked in good shape and was very dangerous. Boro starting to hoover up titles.

Tommy Hackett did bring the boro love in to extreme levels, it was hard to listen to, shouldn't be let near another boro match on clubber.

Clubber has been great this year, credit to them for their coverage.

There was a year when UCC had Tommy Walsh, Cha Fitzpatrick, John Tennyson, Michael Rice, Richie O'Neill and Donnacha Cody playing, was a serious Kilkenny presence in UCC back around the early 2000's

They are. There were no contests for any position, obviously no club put anyone forward against those standing again. Only change was PRO stood down and new PRO appointed.

I was told that the manager and the trainer new noting about the change they had decided to leave player on who I was told got injection before game and they were checking how he was and a 2 selectors made the change sure if that’s true it’s a joke and today I was told them 2 are suppose to be taking over the team if that happens I could not see much hope for the Boro

well we have a manager in place who has to be confirmed yet and then the backroom team will be picked, so there is no point speculating yet.

    He's not in place then??

To be fair I think yee need a v strong person to take this on and this is one of those cases where it needs to be an outside man…..plus he'd probably need to bring in men with him.

Declan Wall (M’vat) gone in as selector and coach with the senior hurlers

What’s the full senior management ?

Should be a good game today between lisdowney and rathnure. Both impressive so far. Wexford park should be a slight advantage to rathnure but I think lisdowney have more physicality and that might possibly give them the edge.

Watergrasshill won munster last night so they should get to the all ireland with an antrim team to play in the semi

Good luck to Lisdowney today,I actually can't remember the last time a Wexford club beat a KK club in Leinster. Were Callan bet a few years ago inwex Park?

We have a good record against the wexford champions at most levels compared to inter county but it will be tough down there. Best of luck to Lisdowney though looking forward to watching it.

Have to say can't understand the fixture arrangements, can't remember other years but last year Thomastown played away in Enniscorthy, Navan and Aughrim in Leinster and now Lisdowney have had two away and one home. How is that happening, 5 away to one home in two years in Leinster! Something wrong there, that being said if Lisdowney focus on their performance they can do it. I think they will be well hardened after last week and think they will win by 4 or 5.

Seems to be luck of the draw. Liam mellows the wexford junior champs have had 3 away games in kildare, longford and louth!

Very entertaining game so far between Rathnure and Lisdowney, nothing to separate them.

Two good teams going at it.

Great physicality and bite to it.

Rathnure beat Lisdowney by 5 points 0-24 to 1-16.

Jack Redmond the Wexford under 20 hurler with 12 points was the big difference.

A great game of hurling as a spectacle it must be said.

Enjoyable game, physical and competitive and some nice scores in it. Unlucky to lisdowney and well done on a great year for ye.

Congrats to Rathnure a very impressive team. How did Eoin Larkin get them relegated last year? They look a strong outfit with fabulous forwards. Lisdowney have never got outside Leinster after winning a junior and 2 intermediate's. The first intermediate during Covid. It's a pity they never made Croke Park

Can anyone tell me if Lachtain's have any current or recent county men?

My nerves are shot ahead of next week.

James Maher at least anyway. Darren Brennan the keeper was the sub goalie up until last year.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 421 ✭✭droppingball

Brian Kennedy was for a number of years as well but gone of panel for a while.

AJ Redmond was huge as a sweeper for Rathnure today. Unbelievable catch and score when the game was close to give them a serious lift. Wickham in midfield was excellent. Jack and Mick Redmond were great, not only for their scores, but they stood tall when needed.

Pity for Lisdowney, because despite not playing their best, they had the game for the taking. Too many handling errors and wrong decisions killed them. Some silly frees too. They struggled to trouble the Rathnure defense apart from the goal. Similar patterns between how the game today and the Thomastown game played out, albeit not to the same extent

Rathnure should be senior, Skippy Ruth has done a fine job with them this year to get back their senior status in Wexford.

Lisdowney well beaten by a excellent rathnure team. In truth a 5 point defeat flattered them. Tallis came to the rescue again.

All the redmonds were outstanding. Jack gave an exhibition. Aj has perfected the sweeper role. I remember him being outstanding in the leinster minor final of 2019 against kilkenny Surely be in with wexford next year. Am I right in saying that's wexford 1st leinster win at intermidiate level?

In hindsight the loss of sweeney and Jordan was massive. O carroll only came on too. Hard to know how they'll go on senior next year.

Looking at the Lisdowney team below, would anyone else be worth a run in with the KK seniors winter panel?

    Scorers for Rathnure: J Redmond 0-12 (1 ’65, 3 frees), M Redmond 0-3, S Lawler 0-4, C O’Connor, S O’Connor 0-2 each, A.J. Redmond 0-1

    Scorers for Lisdowney: B Kavanagh 0-7 (7 fs), R McEvoy 1-2, C Jordan, L Dunphy 0-2 each, P O’Carroll, N Brennan, L Holohan 0-1 each

    Rathnure: K Martin; S Martin, B Quigley, C O’Neill; M O’Connor, P Doyle, D Wickham; C O’Connor, E Wickham; J Redmond (capt.), R Higgins, M Redmond; S Lawler, A.J. Redmond, S O’Connor.

    Subs: M Martin for C. O’Connor (50), J Tobin for Higgins (53), L Codd for Lawler (58), M Somers for M. O’Connor (60+1),

    Lisdowney: A Tallis; S Phelan, B Tallis, L Campion; M Kenny (capt.), E Walsh, A Dunphy; L Dunphy, N Brennan; R McEvoy, P O’Carroll, E McEvoy; B Kavanagh, C Jordan, L Holohan.

    Subs: E Kenny for Holohan (36), D O’Carroll for Phelan (44), V Fitzpatrick for McEvoy (51), A McEvoy for Jordan (58),

I Watched Leinster final today to see what Lisdowney were like. Goalie pulled off a great save and puck outs very good mostly, but had some mis hit ones that were costly. Time of year probably a fair excuse. The tallis lad full back oozes class at this level but probably to light for inter county. Center back looks strong but was very cagey and cost some scores with dropped balls and miss hit handpasses. All the forwards got scores I think. All very good in patches but again, noone looked inter county level.
