Considering switching from Vodafone Siro to Eir FTTH. Does anyone have experience of doing the same and do eir use the same ONT box already installed or do they need to install their own.

I've gone the other way Eir to Siro. They are completely independent systems. So your Siro gear will just be powered down and a full fibre install including ONT equipment required for Eir.

Yeah, they've nothing to do with each other, but use very similar technology.

The whole installation and wiring would be different, with the fibres running alongside the ESB wiring with Siro or along the same routes as the landline phone network with OpenEir.

The other networks' wiring and ONT would be left in place and just the service deactivated. If you ever wanted to go back you could reactivate them quite easily. The new service would have its own ONT and wiring.

Ah ok thanks for the info folks appreciate it. That's made that decision a little easier will be staying where I am so don't want any more boxes or cables on the walls.

switch to Sky or recontract with Vodafone. This way you'll get better price and stay with SIRO cables.

Yeah I am with Vodafone broadband at the moment and Sky TV but I hate the Sky Q interface its way too fussy so was thinking the eir tv would suit me better but I don't fancy extra wires all over the house. So will prob stay where I am or might consider the Vodafone TV.
