I think family members is part of the vetting

Not sure social media could really be checked.
There are still laws that are in effect such as certain freedoms of speech and expression so denying you on that basis would open up a lot of legal issues both sides of that coin

how long after submitting form b do you hear about pct?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55 ✭✭Confitzy

I rang today and asked what stage is my vetting at and they said it’s “suitability checks”. Any idea what that means?

They also asked me had I had my station interview yet (I didn’t) she said that’s all part of the suitability and vetting

I presume it means if you are of good character to join the guards.

Hi all in the group,I'm batch 6 and recently passed my interview, public jobs sent me message say congratulations and once eligibility is OK they will send my details to Garda hq,They are looking for my leaving cert or equalivent which I did in the mid 90s but unfortunately the school don't have them records anymore or state examinations office in Athlone can't locate them either. So now I'm in limbo as it's the oy thing stopping me moving forward. Has anybody been in this situation and how did you get passed it.i feel like now just withdrawn my application.

It looks like your up **** creek without a paddle as the only way I was moving forward was when I located my own LC results, it's very frustrating but they are the hoops we have to jump through...I hope you come to some resolution🤞🤞🤞

Can you send public jobs the email you got from the examination board saying they can’t locate your results?

If you sat the LC and you can't order them from the state exams commissioners that's no fault of your own.

    This is a different article

Yes and I got onto my school and they emailed me and stated to me they only hold results for 7 years and when I contacted the states examinations office they can't find me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40 Road Runner 999

Yes I have already sent them the email a few days ago and still waiting for them to reply.Like here we are gardai are leaving and retiring, and I'm doing my level best to secure a place.I already work for a state company so that should make it easier.

how do you prepare for the obstacle course or can you ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 80 ✭✭boards_24

strange question to ask but when you’re doing the obstacle course, is there a few people doing it at once or is it one at a time? Because I feel like that would be nerve wracking lol

there is one other patron going around. They are usually on the last lap when you start your first. It’s the easiest part of the day imo

Anyone hear anything back on vetting from batch 4?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 31 Dublindriver33

If you haven't heard anything back, I'd say everything is okay with the details that you provided.

People are getting calls about potential intakes in March if you have medical and local interviews done and everything processed by the time you get down to Templemore.🤞🤞

    nope batch 4 here to.
I have heard they continue sending out invites to the December intake up until 3 days from the start date so fingers crossed batch 4 hears something.

Ue but there is a physical copy some where in a box. They had mine from over 30 years ago.

With the fitness test, do they tell you if you pass each stage as you go along? Or leave it all to the end when it’s all completed? Like if you fail the bleep test will they still make you go ahead with push ups etc and then tell you at the end?

FYI I rang to day for an update on my application, was told I had no form b submitted. I was batch 2 I submitted it last July and got confirmation they got it by email and they said my vetting had commenced (I have all other stages complete). Then in August they emailed me saying they didn't have it so I submitted it again and also rang and was told by the lady on the phone it was in front of her and she had added it to my physical file and my vetting was underway, only to be told today when I rang they never had it. If I didn't ring today I wouldn't have even known. So this is a heads up for everyone to make sure they are working on your vetting or you'll be like me having wasted 4 months of time.

no way.. honestly I’ve never come across such an incompetent bunch of admin workers who are working in this department. It is an absolute disgrace the carry on of how they are getting away with making such major mistakes.. this is people’s careers they are messing with… yes, it’s a typical Public Sector f**k up and nothing will be done about. So now they have wasted 4 months of your changes of getting in which could have been Dec intake.. Hope people start bombarding them with calls now after reading your post.. thankfully you rang in…

Hi folks, batch 2 here, just got my invitation to 16th December intake 👍process is ticking, just very very slow I suppose.

Hi, how does it work if you wanted to defer your place for December? Are you then guaranteed to be in the intake for March?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 86 ✭✭WeskertheAntagonist

When did you do your medical or PCT fitness test?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2 Vulcy

My medical was completed in July, my PCT 3 weeks before that.

For anyone who got invited for December without a station interview chances are your local station will call you for an interview very soon. Thought I wouldn't be doing one so close but did mine during the week.
