I'm sure a few people in this thread have worked in IT, and know that most well functioning IT departments, have a surplus of critical hardware. If you have a problem with equipment, they swap it out and you go back to work.

This woman, stuck with a malfunctioning hoist, and the HSE have gone looking for a spare part for it. Instead of just swapping out either the entire hoist, or swap out the part.

Something seriously needs to be done about the HSE.

Fair play to Patricia not being afraid of using the word "retardation". Not even Joe would dare pull her up on it.

They would need the correct Union Card for the wurk. Me aul lad caused a incident in 'de system' for performing maintenance without de correct card.

Actually I’m not looking forward to him retiring as he can be comedy gold. Not looking forward to KDee ( with more than a forty word vocabulary ) and the others boring the ass off us.

Just offer him 100,000 and let him stay.

WTF there's no moratorium any more, and what has that got to do with talking about carers allowance! Fool

RTE have stopped saying the lad in court was a HSE Manager.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,559 ✭✭✭golondrinas

That’s a question that never gets asked or answered on liveline

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,852 ✭✭✭✭LambshankRedemption

Joe: We could go on to Friday talking about carers.

I'm calling it now, I wont be listening for the rest of the week if that is the case.

And this is what really pisses me off about Joe. Someone with serious money and power at his disposal, could organise for 1. Someone to go to Patricia and help her. 2. Buy or have someone donate a hoist to her, and take the malfunctioning one.

Instead, in the last 30 seconds of his show he said he would put the word out for "a part" for her hoist.

    Here:

    https://www.medguard.ie/medguard-180kg-freestanding-hoist.html

1365 ex VAT. Joe could buy it for her out of his winnings pay from todays show alone.

I'm always amazed at the amount of claims and entitlements that people who are classed as lower class/ less educated know what to claim for and what they should be getting!,

They would be able to fill out the forms for these people

£200 is about the equivalent of €1900 pw now. Joe gets around €7000.

    €350k//year telephonist moaning about means-testing

they could just print that hoist part with a 3d printer, would cost less than €50

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,852 ✭✭✭✭LambshankRedemption

Or buy a new one for what UCHG spends on post-it notes. It's not even about the money, it's about the HSE not having the wherewithal to have spare ones to hand.

Caller to HSE: My hoist has stopped working.

    What should happen.

HSE: We'll send a guy around in a van, if its a quick fix he will fix it, if not, he will swap out the hoist for a new one.

    What happens instead:

HSE: The man in the van couldnt fix it, he thinks its part G-13 that is faulty. We are scouring eBay now for a replacement. There's one for 40 quid but its coming from China so hopefully you can shower by Christmas.

    Same with Dub City Council

The old folks apartments with a broken security gate 'part needed from Germany' and that's been going on for 2 years now -

result → drug dealers and various scumbags making it their playground and turning it into a hell on earth.

Seriously inept government national and local in this country with zero accountability.

A thing isn't what it says it is.

A thing is what it does.

A part needed from Germany, for 2 feckin years?!?

We are such a small country, there is no excuse for there not to be a warehouse somewhere, with "Council House Security Gate Type II" in it, for this kind of thing. Similarly, why doesn't the HSE have a ware house with spare hoists in it?

When my father was dying he was on a waiting list for a hospice in Galway. We were literally praying for a person to die so he could get a bed in one. Unfortunately they held on and my father died in a ward of other men.

Galway Hospice had high-hopes of building a new €20m, 36-bed facility on the grounds of Merlin Park Hospital and was granted planning permission in 2018 by Galway City Council.

This was overturned on appeal, however, in 2019 by An Bord Pleanála which ruled that the development would be “inappropriate and contrary to policies to protect natural heritage”.

That was in 2019, meanwhile people are dying on wards.

I fear you miss understanding how de HSE wurk. They would not touch the like of eBay, this is medical grade equipment. The decimal point moves at least 1, if not two places to the right.

The request for new host has to go out to teder, the tenders have to be returned and the analysed. The cheapest tender has to be accepted. If not enough received, start again from Go. etc, etc.

Thus is why we have the HSE, which is multiple middle layers of management on top of the auld Health Boards. BTW I know the Health Boards don't exists any more, yet I also know of multiple duplicate departments, each handling their own original health board region. :-)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,852 ✭✭✭✭LambshankRedemption

I was being facetious as well you know, but the point still stands,

I get the whole tendering business, Ive been involved in it. Still no excuse for them not tendering out for a supplier of hoists that can guarantee onsite repair or replacement within 24 hours.

Something like 2bn humans globally are abjectly poor, yet we think it normal to burn perfectly good stuff. Do the Greens have a viewpoint?

The also burn down de free gaffs. It is hinted at in the article, but not specified.

Catherine confirms that a house a dead Traveller lived in might not be burned down,

So they might not burn down the house, paid for by the hard pressed tax payer.
