I think it's pretty clear now she was talking about McGregor and there was another assault reported to Gardai around this time.

Seriously. Get a grip. It is widely known that she has been a victim of intimidation. Plenty of things are not reported for various different reasons.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,149 ✭✭✭monkeybutter

    Get a grip? Of what

    Everything I said was logical

Things arent reported for various reasons, that's genius

They didn't report the break in as this was before the courts

That's why they reported it today

They would report anything to do with the case that was new today

You claimed to know something, others said it was another case

It fair to ask you how you know

It seems you have gotten mixed up

Absolutely delighted for Nikita Hand - this woman fought many years for justice and she must feel vindicated now.

McGregor is an absolute scumbag thug with no redeeming qualities and no respect for anyone else - I'm not surprised that he raped this woman and I strongly suspect he has probably raped several more women who have yet to come forward.

    Justice was served today.

Will Conor be getting a knock on the door of the gardai now ? New evidence etc came to light in this case during the trial ?

Dee Devlin must be some dose as well!

That’s one thing I do wonder.

she was looking for €110-€150k for her to move house, and back pay for her job. Now, a hairdresser might be earning €40kish per year. I don’t know when she left but say 5 years ago. That’s €200k less say 60k social welfare.

So the award doesn’t even cover that. And, given the actual injuries and the subsequent mental health problems they could have awarded punitive damages on top of the compensation. But they decided not to. It’s strange.

There are apparently two other similar cases against him due to come before the courts. I expect after this week there will be more.

As for Lawrence- she won’t be stung for his costs. Her claim was always based on “if sex occurred”. The jury decided no sex occurred I.e. they didn’t believe his testimony.

The court are defining it as sexual assault. The accusation and details provided by the accuser were of rape. So we all know what he is now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,922 ✭✭✭paddyisreal

Why ? He hasn't been tried for it a criminal court so it most definitely could happen

    Because nothing new came out

I mean something new could possibly come out, but it's unlikely

    So it's very unlikely

Unless there’s new evidence that negates the cctv coverage or negates the friend’s testimony, there will be no criminal trial.

It's one thing to have your head in the sand and pretend nobody knows what you are putting up with, and a whole other thing to have it printed in national media. Must be more difficult to turn a blind eye and pretend you don't know when it's the latter.

I'm referring to the evidence given that the practice of booking a hotel room to hook up with random women was a regular and normal thing

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,922 ✭✭✭paddyisreal

How do you know knew nothing new came out ? No one here knows the small details of the case and why they didn't prosecute, that could change very quick on the amount of evidence over the last few weeks. Especially his mate who is lying though his teeth, . This might just be the start of a **** show for Conor

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,149 ✭✭✭monkeybutter

The **** people put up with off lads on the scratch and nothing going for them

    Hes got 100m

Its easy to turn a blind eye and some people don't care

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,149 ✭✭✭monkeybutter

It's a civil case, nó investigation, nothing new

    They know the details

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 355 ✭✭LastApacheInjun

As to whether he can be called a rapist in the press, the answer is probably yes. In order to defend yourself from defamation you have to prove that a statement is “in substantial effects, true”. A decision of a civil court would be quite compelling in that defence. But I can understand the Irish press being cautious.

Can the general public call him a rapist? Well, yeah. I do hope I get the chance to shout it at him at some point.

No doubt 'drink/drug driving at play' too

A multimillionaire going around a housing estate looking for God knows is a bit crazy

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,922 ✭✭✭paddyisreal

Yes we all know it's a civil case but if you think the dpp ain't looking at this.... I wouldn't be surprised if he is charged in the next few weeks. His scumbag mate will definitely be lying under oath to cover for him

He's not going to be charged. The civil case changes nothing regarding a criminal case.

I hope McGregors legal team donate their fees to a women’s charity, I don’t know how anyone with an ounce of decency could take money from the likes of him. They have enabled this client and his carry on through the legal system. Today a young woman had the moral courage to take this on and prevailed- well done to her. The award may have been modest, but one person comes out of this holding their head high, the other one is a pariah …

I haven't read all 8 pages but this is exactly it. Remember when he was interviewed after giving up his apprenticeship, saying he wanted to beat aldo, and around 5 years later he went and did it. He won his first fight and said he had to go down and sign off the dole. It was a proper inspirational journey from nowhere to the top, and he ended up as an arrogant can't.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,922 ✭✭✭paddyisreal

It's very obvious his mate was lying through his teeth to cover for him. I'd say that is fairly new evidence. Lets see what happens.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 355 ✭✭LastApacheInjun

Yes, but he hasn’t changed his story, and the DPP can’t prove he’s lying, so no change there.

Hold on you're trying to say this man is innocent? Didn't the court rule against him?

Anyone who thinks she didn't know what was going on had their head in the sand.

She's in it for the money and lifestyle by the looks of it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,149 ✭✭✭monkeybutter

What is this evidence of exactly? This happened in 2018, the friend has been there since then

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,303 ✭✭✭RoyalCelt

Does this train of thought apply both ways? If a lad had 8 pints and has sex with a woman who had two can he then sue her for rape? I just ask because I only ever hear this in the context of the woman unable to consent.
