I’m currently working agency in a position that I could be hired directly into, especially as I’m on a panel for this position. No one seems to have any answer on when offers will be sent out, it’s all extremely slow. I’m curious to see what will happen once the balloting from the unions is complete in a few weeks

I wouldn't be putting all my eggs in one basket if I were you I would be looking elsewhere aswell. A friend of mine is agency and was filling a vacant post on a month to month basis. They loved her as she was great at the job, shes also high up on a panel. Last week she was told the role would be shared among existing staff and she is needed no longer. The other staff are fuming as they barely have the time to fulfill their own duties! She has been offer a one month contract in a centre 35 miles away instead! They don't care how good you are or where you are on a panel theorganisation is a total mess and personally I am searching very hard for a new job as I am just a number and it I'd all about box ticking they don't care about their employees mental or physical health.

Thanks that’s good to know. I have honestly lost hope at this stage re getting a job with the HSE. I am currently looking for a new job but it’s quite difficult to find anything if it’s not agency unless I actually move to a different county altogether where they have more opportunities. Such a disaster it’s shocking that this has been allowed to go on for this long

I know, I was thrilled when I was offered a post but it has been soul destroying. I have been to occupational health and still Management say they "can't" move me. I have given up on trying and putting my health first. You have to keep believing that things will change for the better or that something else will come up, somewhere where you are valued for starters! Good luck with everything.

Think the unions are largely at fault for deliberately putting off any prospect of action till after the election.. By then FG/FF will be in government for another five years. And it will be too late..The time for action to force a change in policy was before the election..

FG now promising to use the Apple billions for subsidies to drive up house prices and rents..

yes the unions have definitely delayed things, even when the freeze was first introduced there should have been more action from them. Waiting till after the election is too little too late, nothing will change.

yet millions being forked out to temporarily fill with agency staff!

Please stop the faux concern about the staff costs, it's nauseating. It is much better value for money than paying unsackable staff for years plus their pensions.

The unions should be told to f*ck off. They have no right to be interfering in who does and does not get hired.

It's because of the disgraceful failure to face down unions that have caused thousands of hours to be taken out of the system by reducing the work week from a perfectly reasonable 37 hours to a 35 hour week.

If you feel over worked, you can partly blame yourself and your unions for it.

HSE has just launched a nationwide recruitment campaign for clerical officers. Strong indicator that intention is now to expire panels that are in place for more than a year.

Depends on personal circumstances. There are a lot of people on panels for over a year with no offers..If the intention is now to have new Grade III, IV, V and VI recruitment campaigns the current panels will be expired once the new panels are in place.

Hi All, just wondering if anyone knows how long the recruitment process takes once you have moved to contracting stage?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 649 ✭✭✭Minier81

Very quick at contracting stage, they pretty much just as you for your planned start date and then send you your contract to sign. It's a few day really. You will set you earliest start date depending on whether you have to give notice elsewhere.

Thanks, would you know if they contact current employer before you give notice? I've been given all the forms etc but again told not to hand in notice, just not sure if I should tell current employer yet... especially if the process is slow

    Hi,

I am wondering if anyone knows in regards to a panel. If a person that has topped the panel takes the job, can they get the next position that comes up off the same panel??

Not normally: they would have come off the panel when appointed.

(There may be exceptions, eg if the appointment was temporary.)
