Whatever financial success Massachusetts holds, it's because of its long term environment with respect to Education/Healthcare/ Quality of life attracting talent and then companies setting up there to optimize that talent.

A week before the election, Trump held a rally where a speaker referred to it as 'The Nazi Rally and didn't counter that determination, but said they were going to do it anyway.

At the same rally, Stephen Miller used Nazi era rhetoric from the stage saying 'America, for Americans only.

Before the election, Trump supporting flags were flown beside Nazi flags in Florida. A few days after the election, Nazi flags were held by people.claiming Go Trump outside a theatre where a play about Anne Frank was being performed.

So, given all these facts, why are you so insistent that there be no reference to the parallels between current day Republicans and Nazi ideology?

And all that aside, it was you who brought Nazi references in to this conversation. Neither the image I posted, or the content of my post referred to such in any way, so why did you feel it necessary to try to move the conversation?

The only thing I think he'll definitely do compared to his first term is play more golf.

I expect those narcissists who arrive in on his coattails are going to be as busy fighting eachother pretty quickly.

There's already suggestions that Musk is on a countdown because of the attention he gets.

Given what he can do for Trumo, I wouldn't be surprised if he was there a while though.

I would observe that some 43 million Americans (about 15%) obtain their drinking water from their household well. I can't find a correlating document with poverty, but as they tend to be a bit rural, I'm sure a reasonable portion of them can't afford toothpaste, if the cost of toothpaste is actually an issue (which as mentioned above seems unlikely). Given their water is sourced privately, flouridation or otherwise of the water by supply agencies may not be the most thorough way of dealing with the problem.

In any case, even if a federal mandate were removed (I'm not sure if he has the authority to do that), that wouldn't mean that local utilities would have to stop.

I'm making references to the most irritating and obnoxious aspects of the Dem campaign - like chanting Nazi, racist, sexist, rapist, felon, anti-Semitic, supremacist, garbage, insurrection, etc. 24/7 to try to batter voters into submission - because that is what is at issue imo.

Massachusetts voted for Eisenhower and Reagan too (and what might now be considered relatively conservative Democrats, like Truman). It's long-term success might depend in some way on modern political liberalism overall (though even that is debatable since as I said it's been a success for a long, long time - centuries in fact) but it surely does not depend at all on the unending stream of off-putting demagogic rhetoric that passes for big-d Democratic politics in 2024.

Trump got an enormous standing ovation when he attended the UFC match in Madison Square Gardens.

Another incisive video, this time by Fareed Zakaria of CNN.

In it he outlines how from a very strong position after the 2022 mid elections at which Trump was at a very low point the Democrats blew the election.

    3 main reasons

The Immigration chaos at the Border.

Overzealous misuse of law against Trump.

The dominance of Identity politics. Judging people by the colour of their skin rather than the content of their character.

Good to see some common sense returning to CNN.

CNN look to be in big trouble with audience figures tanking and staff fearing layoffs.

    Which laws were misused?

If only there had been a bipartisan bill to address that chaos at the border🙄

Common sense needs to be based on reality

    What rubbish.

Trump is the very epitome of judging people by colour of their skin. And where they come from.

The chaos at the border? Yet people voted for the man that held up legislation that would have helped solve the chaos.

What made up charge was levied against Trump? Also, if you believe that the Democrats used the legal system to target Trump then you accept that the legal system is open to manipulation.

Apart from installing judges that agree with him, what has Trump proposed to fix such a broken system. And can every criminal now claim its all just the police etc being overzealous

If judging people by their character was really an issue then Trump would never have got 75m votes.

The dems need to stop blaming themselves. There is lots of stuff they could or should have done but fundamentally the US wants an authoritarian law breaker with no morals who is only interested in the people that support him.

For the moment I am absolutely loving all the leopard face eating.

I mean ask me again when the Tango Mussolini is in office and I'll sing a different tune but, right now, it's delicious seeing all the social sectors who voted for him complain about his picks

Private wells should be tested so they don't have too much fluoride as well as an abundance of other things.

Misuse isn't the best word, the words used by Fareed as I recall (been a week since I watched that) are "overzealous" and "lawfare."

It's a concept which isn't new. I've said it here months ago as well. There's an old phrase which goes "Justice doesn't just have to be done. It has to be -seen- to be done", and the slew of cases thrown at him instead of just one or two more significant ones resulted in the legal system being "seen" to be used by Democrats-controlled apparatus to persecute Trump. Maybe the Democrats didn't see it that way, and maybe even it wasn't, in practice, but it certainly was a perception outside of that bubble.

Ah yes, the bastion of health is a McDonalds meal with a coke.

…but he will for sure change how Americans can eat their food and be healthy.

    The grift is real.

Genuinely thought this was North Korea with the stuff they put on before the fights. It was just weird.

If he hadn't been prosecuted the argument would have been that he was above the law (he was ,as it turned out)

When he was actually prosecuted for one case he was found guilty by a jury of sexual asssault.

He still denies what has been found to be the case in court and there is no shortage of people to support him(they latch onto "oh you can't call him a rapist" and never admit that he was found by a jury to have sexually assaulted another person (and it is fine to vote for such a person for President)

It is also quite intolerable that his election interference cases were allowed not to be heard (not that a guilty finding there would have dissuaded his followers from voting for him either)

I think musk will actually be quietly competent in his role, the others like RFK will be a slow motion train crash

Musk will be competent at pursuing his own agenda. It's about slashing regulations and saving him money. If he happens to actually save the government money it'll just be a bonus.

RFK is batshit crazy, I can't see him lasting.

Seeing as he keeps getting convicted, I'm curious how you/they/he can claim persecution.

They they charge trump with too many of his crimes isn't going to wash.

What crimes shouldn't he have been charged with/ let away with?

What crimes was he charged with that support a claim of lawfare?

Just wondering if Trump's audit has been completed by the IRS? Seeing as they could only get Al Capone on tax charges, might there be hope>? Methinks not 🙄

    "Keeps" getting convicted?

I'm aware of one case where he was convicted, the (really obscure) New York elections law trial. How many others was he convicted on?

You miss the point, though. It's the perception which counts in elections. You can get pretty much anyone in the US on some malfeasance if you really wanted to.

Most of US government spending is untouchable

If he goes after veterans, or military or old people and their entitlements or law enforcement then that generate nothing but negative headlines for Trump

We should start placing bets on how long before Trump comes out and says “Elon whom? Never knew the guy” people seem to have forgotten how he operated before

Ah sour grapes 🍇 still. At that age he looks great.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,942 ✭✭✭✭Frank Bullitt

Sour grapes? He is bright orange, fat, and has the worst hair transplant the world has seen.

He looks exactly like his age, maybe even older. Pretty sure people didn’t vote for him based on looks, your infatuation about how he looks is a bit…telling 🫣
