No I think it’s disappointment and a feeling of betrayal by Ireland. There’s a forest in Israel named for Eamonn DeValera, which says something of how Ireland used to be seen there. (DeValera visited Israel in the 1959s).

Nothing similar, AFAIAA, for significant Belgian or NZ figures.

As for Ireland’s fond belief in its outsized influence, well. First, it’s odd how this is so often presented as a positive by the very people who complain that Jews also have an outsize influence but that in their case it’s malign.

Second: it’s becoming like the British belief in the special relationship: far more one-sided than the smaller party likes to imagine. And the current carry-on of many in Ireland are damaging whatever is left of that influence.

So compare Israel’s democracy, with 20% (and growing) of the population who are Arabs as well as various minorities, to the situation of non Muslim minorities in any of the other 98% of the former Ottoman Empire that has given rise to massive population movements. Not just Palestinians. Though to read Irish media that’s what you’d think.
