    Team warning, overdue really

That is an immediate penalty for completely releasing the jumper, anyway. Dangerous play

Ireland are regularly going blue on the TV. It’s not just me is it?

    Did Ringrose turn that over?

    Jaysus that was clutch.

    Think that's harsh.

We had a clear lift on the ball prior to that that he totally ignored though.

We got the McCarthy try a min or so after a blatant and cynical hand on the deck from them (same as Ratima’s last week) and the JGP call was inconsistent and a bit harsh (his language was off - never called use it).

We fully deserve the lead but also in another sense we're lucky to be 22-9 ahead

Looked like his lifters were driven back. Not sure what he's supposed to do there.

"Well, yeah, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man"

    Monster turnover.

Random question, (unrelated to the opposition ha) but is eye-gouging gone from the game?

That's what I call the great escape, could be a key moment in the entire game surviving that onslaught!

Huge defensive set. That was a big moment in the game.

Real curates egg of a half. We’ve played some lovely stuff but made some poor errors with regards handling and discipline.

A good half. I'd definitely have taken that beforehand. Some errors but we're well improved.

I'm pretty sure he did called "use it" prior to counting?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,122 ✭✭✭Shehal

Overall, realistically this was the best we could hope for as we were unlikely to go from 0 to 100 after last week…but there is still ALOT to work on, far too many penalties.

The Virgin Media Player really is dog ****. Sound and vision out of sync and crashing every few mins.

Have to watch it in SD on Saorview

The defence across both games has been superb up to now, if only we can improve our decision makings with ball in hand and we'll be laughing.

They’ve struggled to create anything though- we’ve given them cheap territory a few times with poor exits or penalties, but they’re not really breaking us down at all.

Very good half - big reaction. Our ball retention and ruck clearing accuracy is night and day from last week.

VDF and both centres have been very good.

Obviously still not at our accurate best but a big improvement on last week. We look sharp when we get through a few phases. JGP has thrown a couple of beautiful passes in their 22.

That Argentina strike move at the end was bizarre. Tap and 20 metre pass to your best carrier. It was so obvious what they were doing and Irelands defence was completely ready for it.

It’s a weird one. We’ve played all the rugby but Argentina have managed to stay in touch for most of the half. They really needed a try there though. Hopefully we’ll look back and say that defensive set was the winning of the game.

Penalty count and error count still too high (and lineout issues continuing too actually), but lots going so much better than last week.

Mixed bag first half, lots to be happy about and lots to work on.

If you were to apply it to a player I'd say Joe McCarthy - sloppy missed restart, missed tackles in the red zone. But held a player up and got a try.

We don't seem too far off from a score or from shooting ourselves in the foot but it's definitely a better performance than last week.

It's still a pain having to watch it on SD in this and age.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,611 ✭✭✭FtD v2

He called use it, then immediately went “2-1” and blew it.
There’s no way it was in line with how he’s refereed the game so far.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,122 ✭✭✭Shehal

Absolutely, still a lot to work on but at least we're making progress.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,402 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

I'm not sure we're playing that well. Lots of effort and physicality, but also a lot of handling errors and inaccurate play. We've conceded three silly penalties that have all led to Argentina points.

Think we need to calm down a bit and start building some territory.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,611 ✭✭✭FtD v2

We’ve scored three tries and came about as close to a fourth as you’ll come. We’ve shown some lovely attacking shape at times, and have largely retained the ball in their half at length for long periods.

We’ve given them an in with some soft penalties, but we’ve been the far better side here so far.

That's fair enough, I was just responding to this:

(his language was off - never called use it).

The Argentinian player was offside before he finished counting down, and the ball was still in the ruck. Didn't understand it. Should have penalized Argentina.
